Does Ty Thompson have what it takes to surpass his father's football legacy at Tulane?

21-year-old Ty Thompson, who plays as a QB for the Tulane Green Wave, has roots in Arizona. His growing lore first found prominence while he was playing for Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Arizona. During his senior year, in 2020, he threw for 3,431 yards and 34 touchdowns. And the plaudits came knocking at his door! The All-American Bowl Offensive Player of the Year, Maxwell Football Club Offensive Player of the Year, and a few more.

The Thompson family has an American heritage, which is also a reason for the family’s personal and community involvement. Thompson’s parents follow his football career very closely and provide him with encouragement and all the necessary resources to excel in his field.

Thompson started his college career with Oregon in 2021; initially, he had to fight for his starting back position with Anthony Brown and ultimately won the fight. He appeared in three games as a backup, completing seven of 15 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. In 2022, he again had to fight for the starting back role with Bo Nix, and Nix secured the position. That year, he played seven games as a backup, completing 11 of 20 passes for 72 yards. After returning as Nix’s backup in 2023, he decided to enter the transfer process on 11th December and committed to Tulane in January for the 2024 season.
