Is Tommi Hill risking too much by returning, or is he the spark the Huskers need?

This has been one heck of a ride for Matt Rhule. After the Illini dismantled the entire “feared” Huskers offensive line, it felt as if HC Matt Rhule’s heart was shattered alongside every Huskers fan out there. Another major blow to the entire team’s confidence was when CB Tommi Hill was ruled out because of a head injury. The young cornerback has been a key part of the Huskers’ defense and has managed to keep the rushes in check with ease.

But now, the question is, with Tommi Hill coming back to play against Rutgers, is he trying to make up for lost time or is he axing his own feet? Steve Marik took to X to share a clip of Hill doing the pregame work alongside other DBs before the game started. #Huskers corner Tommi Hill was getting some pregame work in with the other DBs,” Marik noted on his post. The important part to keep in mind is that Hill is still on a Game Time Decision.

Against Illini, the head injury didn’t only suffer a head injury but also a foot injury during the first half. This even caused the guy to sit out the Purdue game. On the latest injury report, Matt Rhule noted that he expects Hill to be present during the game, but only if his condition improves.

This would cripple the defensive line severely. While Ceyair Wright has stepped up as the secondary, without Hill, the Huskers are going to have a rough time stopping the Rutgers rush game. We all know that the Scarlet Knights currently have the No.12 ranked offense.

The entire battle of the Reds would be quite the game. The Huskers No.14 listed defense will have to do it all to stop the Rutgers, but if Rhule’s strategy does not work out, then we might see another Illini flashback. However, before everything hits the fan, we gotta break one more news that is going to break the heart of every Husker fan.

Big Noon Kickoff took to X on October 5th to share an important clip involving Greg Sharpe. Now, if you didn’t know who Sharpe is, then you don’t know Nebraska sports. For more than 12 years, Sharpe has been THE voice behind the Huskers baseball games or football games.

From his game commentaries to watching him on the official Nebraska YouTube channel, this man is what makes Huskers football Huskers football. “I’m on borrowed time,” was what Sharpe mentioned in the video shared by Big Noon Kickoff.

Early this year, Sharpe was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. When the Huskers went up against the Illini, Sharpe and his commentary were missing. It felt like Matt Rhule and Co. had lost their good luck charm. We don’t know yet if Sharpe will be there during the Rutgers game, but what we can hope for is Nebraska bringing this one hope to honor the renowned commentator.
