Would Haynes King be Georgia Tech's QB without his father's coaching? Share your thoughts!

Haynes King, an honorable mention pick on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team, presently played for Georgia Tech as a backup QB. Before that, Haynes King played for A&M Texas Aggies and earned a nomination as a semifinalist for the annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. Along with that, in 2020, he was named as the team’s prior quarterback and was selected for the Under Armour All-American Game. Although, the list of achievements does not end here.

To see the track record and current performance, it seems like sport is in the blood of Haynes. Now, the question is, what is the background of the four-star prospect? It is quite evident that from childhood Haynes was a big fan of football, and he realized he could only pursue his career in football. But from where does this immense love come from? On December 18, 2022, Haynes transferred to Georgia Tech to play his collegiate football. However, his football journey started at Longview High School, and his father, Jhon King, was the chief supporter throughout his journey, as he was the head coach of Longview. The most intriguing fact is that Haynes’ dad guided him from childhood and that is why after joining one of the top-rated programs by King, he said, “I’m proud of my son, he worked his tail off, and he deserved it.” Adding, “After last year, he won the job and got hurt and had to come back and win it again this year, so that’s what he is made of,“.

Hence, you can imagine the involvement of his father in his football career. Currently, his father is the athletic director of Longview Lobo. Haynes also played for Lodo in the 2018 state championship and compiled a 37-2 record as a starting quarterback. However, last year to see his son as a backup Jhon got emotional, and he stated, “When they opened up with Vanderbilt, and I cried when they ran out of the tunnel, and I knew he wouldn’t even get in the game,“. So, you can say Haynes’ father is the backbone of his football career. Now, take a glimpse of his achievements till now.

Having a father with a football background helped King to make a name at an early age. Furthermore, praising the potential and caliber of Haynes, Jhon said “He’s a great teammate and a great person”. Additionally, he mentioned, “All of the things added up. I’m thankful it turned out that way and it turned out that he and his mother raised a pretty good kid,“. It reflects as a father, Jhon is really protective and tremendously supportive. 

Moreover, you can’t ignore the talent of the young QB; he recorded 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns in the regular season. Along with that, he is one of the six ACC players. Presently, he is preparing to become the next-level player so that he can contribute to the upcoming season of Georgia Tech.
