Already Kalen DeBoer’s burden is at another level. After all, he had to fill the shoes of Nick Saban, THE GOAT NICK SABAN. Then too, the Alabama Crimson Tide’s new HC is thrown into the constant comparison game. Not at all justified right? But who cares? As the new HC, DeBoer might have hit some roadblocks, surprisingly, he is not the only debut HC to have witnessed the dark side.
The insider thus drops in some big names to remove the blind glasses that the Bama haters had put on. But even then, the ESPN analyst refuses to trust Alabama with DeBoer at the helm.
For the first time in 18 years, the Bama fans had the chance to see a new face. While it’s no easy task to be in GOAT Saban’s seat, DeBoer has managed it pretty well. For the 2024 season, Alabama is at 5-2. Well, being a Tide fan, we know it doesn’t look promising right? After all, it’s the worst record through seven games since Saban’s debut in 2007. If you also feel so, time for you to widen your perspective. Following a legend like Saban is never easy. But not to forget, DeBoer has his own history of success that comes with inheriting a robust infrastructure roster as tweeted by the Team Reporter Brody Smoott. Well, this is something that stalwarts like Saban didn’t have.

Now, enough of Alabama! Let’s shift our focus to other debut coaches outside Tuscaloosa for a while. The first one in the line is Oregon Ducks HC Dan Lanning. In his first season, he led Oregon to a 10-3 record. And what about Bama’s long-time foe Georgia? Not that great either.
HC Kirby Smart in his first chapter as a coach led the Bulldogs to an 8-5 final record. If you get to know Texas Longhorns HC Steve Sarkisian’s record you would be left shocked. He came up with an abysmal 5-7 record. Now you can get a sound idea of how Alabama’s frustration about DeBoer does not even stand a chance. But even then, Paul Finebaum is yet to be wooed.

Paul Finebaum’s scathing review of Kalen DeBoer
Finebaum is back at it again, doing what he does best—sharing brutal analogy. No, this time, he thought of moving away from Deion Sanders and found DeBoer as his next target. September 19 has been an ominous day for Bama. Why wouldn’t it? They failed to cross the 20-mark as Tennessee Volunteers literally crushed them 24-17. Before that, the Crimson Tide fell into a sticky spot after losing to Vanderbilt Commodores 40-35 which came off as a surprising blow.
And guess what? Finebaum had jotted down the points from the losses. Now it’s time for the analyst to give DeBoer his due lesson. On the Matt Barrie Show, he straightaway went like, “He [DeBoer] literally is turning Alabama fans off.” He further added, “I’m just saying if you’re looking at Kalen DeBoer as a stock price, before the season it’s sky high, it shoots. Literally, they had to stop trading on Kalen DeBoer, to go Wall Street on you, at midnight two weeks ago. Now, it’s like on the penny stocks market.”

But what is it that made Paul Finebaum so disturbed at Kalen DeBoer? So, to the analyst, Alabama is one of the most undisciplined teams. Now the question looms whether DeBoer will finally give Finebaum a reason to adjust his hot take settings or not.
