This weekend, it’s gonna get spicy. With OSU and Wolverines reviving their rivalry, Sherrone Moore and Ryan Day are gonna clash in a new age of college football where the once reigning champs have become nothing but a hollow shell of their former self and the underdogs are the crowd favorites for the championship title. The stakes are high for the Buckeyes and the Wolverines, but what will be even better to watch is Kalen DeBoer finally getting his first taste of Iron. With Auburn heading over to Tuscaloosa, this is Bama’s final shot at redemption and maybe a chance at cracking the playoff bracket.

But wait a second. What if we tell you that there is a bigger rivalry on the horizon which will probably push Iron Bowl and OSU v Michigan to the side? Back on his Instagram, Adam Breneman announces the most high-stakes game of the season. “It is probably the game of the year. At least we get a rivalry week in Texas, Texas A&M,” Breneman mentioned. Steve Sarkisian and Co. take the field against Mike Elko and his squad and you know what? Put Bama and OSU and all that aside because when it comes down to Longhorns and Aggies? The rivalry is just better. 2011 was the last time both these teams faced off against each other. 118 years of pure war was put on stop when the Longhorns left for the SEC.

But before doing so, they sure did land a massive blow on the Aggies’ ego with the entire 27-25 win back in 2011. Coming into this game, Texas A&M is on a hunt to saw off “varsity’s horns” and that alone makes this game a must-watch. See, the Aggies are the underdogs. After that entire game against Auburn, you can pretty much say that the playoff dream for Elko was stolen away with that missed touchdown pass in the final seconds of the game.

So, going into this, they will do everything possible to make it count. And keep in mind that the A&M defense is pretty much the best in the entire country. They stand in the top 20 spots when it comes to creating negative plays in games.

This pretty much means that Quinn Ewers will be in a lot of trouble. The Aggies’ defensive line is notorious in terms of creating pressure. This season alone they have managed to record 105 pressures on the quarterback. So, how can Steve Sarkisian win this?

What’s your perspective on:

Is the Iron Bowl still relevant, or has Texas vs. Texas A&M stolen the spotlight this season?

Keeping the Longhorns flame alive

118 years of rivalry with Longhorns leading with 76 wins, and pretty sure Sarkisian wants to maintain that record. Going into this, the most important aspect would be protecting Ewers. Keep in mind that the dude is already dealing with the injury and that alone will weaken the overall pass game. This, paired with the D-line we talked about before, equals a bad day for the Longhorns.

If the offensive line and the run game manage to stay afloat and give Ewers enough opening, then the Longhorns can power through. But here is the thing; Aggies also have quite the offensive depth. They are ranked in the 17th spot on the FBS when it comes down to rush games.

This will easily test the renowned Texan run defense that is ranked 14th nationally in terms of stopping the rush game. What makes this rivalry spicy is the fact that BOTH teams are solid from a roster and skill standpoint. Who gets the win will come down to who makes the better decisions.

Will Ewers manage to lead the charge and end the rivalry with another win or will Arch Manning come over to save the Longhorns? We cannot wait to find out.
