Brace yourself for some Bryce Underwood flip rumors! The LSU commit is the biggest prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1 QB and No. 1 overall player! So a rumor like this sets the nation in a frenzy of speculation. And the most interesting aspect is that Michigan is contributing to these rumored headlines.
The Wolverine.com recruiting reporter EJ Holland joined Josh Newberg in a new YouTube episode on On3 Recruits on October 29 to drop the driving factor for Bryce Underwood and the Michigan rumor. “Money,” he said. But it’s not Sherrone Moore who’s the mastermind behind this move. Holland said, “Sherrone Moore has had some discussions with new GM Sean Magee who is kind of spearheading the NIL recruitment movement for Michigan.”
Back in March, Magee was hired to “oversee all aspects of the recruiting and player personnel departments as well as coordinate the program’s NIL initiatives.” Looks like he’s already making a difference with his role. On3’s Pete Nakos reported that the University of Michigan has offered Bryce Underwood “a competitive NIL package on par with what LSU has presented.” According to EJ Holland’s report, the Wolverines are making a “north of 5 mil” offer for the top recruit over the next three to four years. Per Michigan sources, this is “the most well-founded Michigan NIL operation since the NIL Era began in July 2021.”

As of now, Sherrone Moore has put together a strong 2025 recruit lineup that ranks No. 12 in the nation with 17 commits. They’ve made headlines after securing the coveted commitment of 5-star OT Andrew Babalola. But given the quarterback issues that have been persistent throughout the season, Michigan isn’t worried about churning big amounts to welcome transformation.
Sherrone Moore & Co. need to improve their QB game
Three starters in eight games! That only shows how flimsy Michigan’s QB room has been this season after the departure of JJ McCarthy to the NFL. Davis Warren and Alex Orji failed to impress in the first five games which led Sherrone Moore to start Jack Tuttle. The senior QB not only gave the Wolverines two back-to-back losses but also rendered a blow to the program with his abrupt retirement news.
Acquiring Bryce Underwood could put an end to their QB woes next season. The Belleville HS standout has recorded 1,477 passing yards and 19 touchdowns while also rushing 24 times for 427 yards and three touchdowns in seven games this season. Can Sherrone Moore and Michigan entice this commit from Brian Kelly’s formidable offense with their lucrative million-dollar offer?
