Yikes, not-so-good updates for Kirby Smart’s Dawgs, as Georgia fans already took their gut punch by losing Carson Beck. Yeah, his season had highs and lows, but let’s not forget because of him, the Bulldogs made it to the No. 2 seed. So, his absence is a big blow. But it’s not the real crisis. Because Kirby Smart isn’t sweating QB with Gunner Stockton, “the chosen one,” taking the reins. Now the real issue is their running back room and their 19-year-old star player who’s in the scrunt!

Now, we all know that since 2022, the Dawgs have been waiting for their championship win and past season after coming this close to their final target. Losing against Notre Dame was a big blow. But that’s something Kirby Smart and the team shouldn’t repeat this year, and the key to that is their outstanding play in the trenches, and that’s only possible if Nate Frazier has a proper backup RB. Even a Dawgs insider highlights the same thing, saying, “If I’m Kirby Smart, I am wrapping Nate Frazier up in bubble wrap for the next six months because right now if that guy goes down, the Georgia Bulldogs are in serious, serious trouble at running back.

“Cuz right now, again, I don’t think they have a solid, reliable number two running back on the roster right now, and that’s a big problem.” Now, it’s evident all the pressure on Nate Frazier will only land them in a tough spot. And believe it or not, the team does need two RB duos to take the team to the championship.

Plus, 2019 rolled around with Swift carrying the load while Brian Herrien, Zamir White, and James Cook waited in the wings. White then became the primary back in the shortened 2020 season. However, in 2021, Georgia struck gold with White and Cook leading them to a national championship because having two exceptional backs is crucial for winning titles.

Now this is pretty much the winning formula. And currently, Kirby Smart lacks this setup. If their main running back gets injured, the team is not just at risk but could find themselves in serious trouble. Even the insider said the same thing: “And while Nate Frasier is on the verge of superstar status, I think if that dude gets hurt, I don’t know where Georgia goes at running back.” Everyone saw Dawgs freshman running back, Nate Frazier clutching his shoulder after a seven-yard run in the third quarter against Tennessee Tech. And seeing his star player getting injured is the last thing Kirby Smart wanted to see.

Nate Frazier being the ultimate crown jewel of Kirby Smart’s team

Look, it’s not like Georgia doesn’t have a surplus of RBs on paper, but injuries sidelined top prospects like Trevor Etienne and two others, thrusting Nate Frazier into the spotlight. Frazier not only filled in admirably but excelled, seizing the opportunity midseason. He finished with an impressive 671 yards and eight touchdowns on 133 carries, demonstrating his ability to handle pressure and showcasing his potential as a future star.

Plus the moment Frazier receives the handoff, the momentum seems to swing in his direction. His speed, vision, and explosive plays create game-changing moments. The only knock? Ball security. Even Dawgs insider highlighted the same thing, saying, “He’s coming off a tremendous freshman season, still needs to carry the ball — or at least hold on to the ball — a little better, right? Ball security has got to increase, but he flashed big-play ability and the potential to be a superstar sooner than later in college football.” However, Frazier is making improvements in his gameplay. And his social media portrays a meticulously edited compilation of his offseason training, showcasing jump cuts, footwork drills, and ball-handling exercises. He’s not just riding talent; he’s sharpening it.

Moreover, upon arriving in Athens in 2024, Frazier wasted no time in making history by becoming the first true freshman since Nick Chubb in 2014 to lead Georgia in rushing yards and carries. With at least two more years ahead of him, Frazier has a genuine chance to join the ranks of Bulldog legends. If he maintains his current level of performance, Kirby Smart’s Georgia may already have its next legendary running back in the making.
