Are the Wolverines stuck in the past, or can they still compete with the likes of LSU?

It is clear that the Michigan Wolverines are making a concerted effort to recruit a skilled quarterback to join their team. Currently, the team does not have a commitment from any quarterbacks for the 2025 cycle. Unfortunately, their desperation is not yielding any results, especially with Bryce Underwood. Each day that passes, the chances of securing a quarterback are diminishing without any progress. Recent events have shed light on the team’s previous failures, which contributes to the overall disappointment.

Today The Number One College Football Show insider highlighted a past misery surrounding the Michigan Wolverines, which might not let them secure Bryce Underwood’s commitment, saying, “LSU has always got an opportunity to win a championship every single year. I’m not sure that’s the case at a place like Michigan. It’s looking more and more like that was a blip; it’s looking more and more like unless you can cultivate an unfair advantage—like stealing signals using video to decipher code—you’re not going to be able to win.” It looks like Michigan’s sign-stealing past will not leave them alone any time soon.

Moreover, the insider also compared Bryce Underwood with NFL star quarterback and former Michigan player Joe Milton, who was part of the team and made a pretty impressive impression on the game. But then added to it by saying that Michigan’s $10.5 million lucrative deal will also not get them anywhere with Bryce Underwood saying, “I don’t think that 10 and a half million is enough to flip Bryce Underwood, and that number might go up. Who knows?”

Well, who doesn’t want a No. 1 ranked quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2025 into their team? But that’s not the only reason Michigan is rooting for Bryce Underwood. This is a mix of their standing in the ongoing season and the worst standing of the team offense.

Have an interesting take?

Michigan’s quarterback struggle has been a hot topic of discussion since the start of the season. The team first positioned Davis Warren as their starting quarterback, but that ended on a bad note with Warren throwing six interceptions in the first three games. After that, Sherrone Moore turned to true freshman Alex Orji, but that also didn’t last longer with Orji throwing four straight incompletions against Huskies. If you think after Alex, Sherrone Moore stopped his QB switch, then you are wrong in the same game. He replaced him with Jack Tuttle but even has to retire from football because of health restrictions. And ultimately all this effort went straight down the drain as the team encountered their worst nightmare this season.

Sherrone Moore’s Michigan is now standing on a 5-5 loss streak this season, which is quite the opposite of how they were performing under coach Jim Harbaugh last year, where the team was standing on a 15-0 streak. Now you can understand why Michigan is not leaving any chance to get Bryce Underwood into the program. If they live up to their expectations, there are chances that the Wolverines might regain their position in the Big Ten contention as one of the top teams. However, with everything happening, it seems like they don’t have much of a chance with Underwood.
