Is Kalen DeBoer hiding something about Kadyn Proctor, or is Alabama's offense just overrated?

Kadyn Proctor’s latest injury continues to worry the Alabama fans. While without the star offensive lineman, Alabama soared high against Western Kentucky, all eyes have since been hooked on updates about Proctor’s health status and the potential to make a return in this session.

Proctor, 19, didn’t even get to lace up his shoes for the Crimson Tide in Week 1 as he had to revert to the locker room straight from the warmup, taking a bump to his left arm. While coach Kalen DeBoer previously laid out an initial word on the situation, citing it as manageable, his cryptic response to the latest journalistic probe raised further questions.

Is Proctor’s injury situation more complex than it meets the eye?

The young athlete’s boundless demand on the field doesn’t solely lie in his enviable physical attributes. Rather, it’s his unmatched passion and resilience that made him stand out among the rest. The zeal is heavily reflected in his illuminating career stats. Kadyn Proctor contributed greatly to developing a solid offensive line through the off-season after he made a hangdog return. While he was just there to vest all his best to the collective growth of the Bama’s in the season opener last week, destiny pulled the rug. The man ended up being spotted with a sling.

While Coach DeBoer is taking a ‘smart and careful’ approach to handling the situation, the Crimson Tide world is waiting with bated breath to hear something positive. The Coach also noted that the situation is day-to-day now and not week-to-week, indicating the severity (or lack thereof) of the injury. However, there seems more to the story. The Alabama HC suspiciously avoided the first question regarding the injury during the latest edition of ‘Hey Coach’.

At the start of this year, the Alabama freshman left tackle marked his presence during the Rose Bowl against Michigan. But the most admirable part is that Kadyn Proctor did it with a torn ligament in the right ankle that he suffered in the practice session. Although the team suffered a 27-20 loss that day, the formidable effort by the 19-year-old and others remained the cynosure of the night. In a post-game interview, Proctor noted the doctors were working to get him on the field at the earliest.

Kadyn Proctor’s attitude hasn’t changed as he navigates through this fresh setback. As per Coach DeBoer, ”This guy is pouring everything into wanting to get on the football field. We’re talking about 6-8 hours a day in the training room.” It remains to be seen whether Kadyn Proctor will be able to make it to the Week 2 game. What’s your take on the whole situation?
