The name’s Travis Hunter and yet, breaking records has never truly been his prey. The Colorado Buffaloes made waves in the Big 12 Conference for the first time after their massive win against the UCF Knights by a score of 48-21 and at the reins of the success, were Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Hunter, who became the poster boy of the game after he hit his Heisman pose following the monumental interception, had a streak of 4 consecutive games with 100 yards receiving, which came to its unfortunate end after the game against UCF.
In light of this, Deion Sanders was quite upset that they couldn’t retain their top player’s streak and voiced his resentment during the post-game conference. This isn’t something that coaches usually do, express their qualms about the team and the slight regrets as part of the greater win, and hence, Coach Prime is being praised for his honesty today.
On the 1st October episode of the ‘B & G Brothas’ podcast, the two hosts, Chad and Charles Johnson, sat down to discuss their thoughts on the blowout win against UCF and later, dissected the interview in which Deion expressed his sadness over Hunter’s unfulfilled streak. They reacted to the video clip of what Deion had to say and as a response, Johnson praised the Colorado HC for speaking up about such a milestone on a public platform.

Johnson was heard retorting, “Those are the types of statements that I think tweak people in the media where he says the quiet parts out loud. Coaches do that stuff all the time. They just don’t say it. ‘I wanted to get my player that 100 yards.’ I remember a week or so ago, when he took a bunch of flack heat for saying something similar about keeping the 100-yard streak alive. I appreciate the fact that he’s unencumbered with saying the quiet parts out loud.”
Thus, even though the nation is singing his praise at the moment, Deion should be given his due respect for caring so much about Hunters’ accolades since they hold such value in the overall career of a player. With that being said, here’s a look at what Deion had to say about the situation itself.

Deion Sanders and why he was upset with Travis Hunter
Colorado Buffaloes‘ win against UCF will go down in the program’s history for being one of the most defining moments for the team. From being considered nothing but a ‘hype-train’ team to now being actual contenders for the Big 12 title, the Buffaloes are now being driven by the success of Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, and many more. The only con of the game against UCF was that Hunter’s streak of four successive 100-yard receiving games came to an end, which made Deion quite visibly upset.

During the post-game conference, Deion was heard saying, “We’re really upset because they just told me he needed like 10 more yards to consistently have his 100-yard streak and we were going to try to get it to him, but we didn’t want to be outlandish or do anything crazy to provoke ignorance. But Travis is OK with it. He’s not playing for that, he just wants to be one of the best players in college football and I think that he is.” Still, Deion has not a lot to worry about since Travis has the rest of the season to break records and create history if he continues to churn out such exceptional performances.
