Week 6 had one of the most emotional endings this season. With Kalen DeBoer and the Tides going home with a loss hanging over their heads, all eyes were suddenly on Vanderbilt. Whatever magic Clark Lea managed to pull during the Crimson Tide showdown helped the Dores secure a win over a top 5 team. Vanderbilt has a record of 0-60 against the Top 5 team matchups, and this record has finally changed.
But what is this? We finally know what magic spell Lea cast over his boys. On X, Nash shared a video that has Lea surrounded by his boys in the locker room. “You’re ready to close this game out. There is nothing extra here. The game is yours, guys. You’re f*cking ready, now go get this,” Lea mentioned, and the rest was history. Vanderbilt was in pure domination mode during that entire game.

Doesn’t matter if you are a Tide fan or not, you have to give it up to the Dores and their spirit. 2 touchdowns to start the game in the 1st quarter, followed by another touchdown in the 2nd quarter, and a field goal.
While DeBoer and his boys did pick up pace in the 3rd quarter and even managed to almost close the gap with WR Ryan Williams’ 58-yard touchdown at the 1:00 mark, Vandy made a strong comeback.

What you gotta keep an eye on is Vandy’s entire defense. They did not let Kalen DeBoer and his offensive powerhouse move up at all. While some might argue that the Tide got too confident going into this game, this was a fair win by the Dores and it instantly managed to skyrocket their QB.

Diego Pavia came out of nowhere and managed to hit the top spot on everyone’s bingo card. This guy was a monster. The effect of Lea’s speech was visible as Pavia managed to put a heck ton of pressure on the Bama defensive line.

Things got so bad that even a calm veteran from the Bama D-line, Malachi Moore, had a major outburst on the turf. Pavia managed to land 16-20 passes and covered almost 250+ yards. It was through him that the Vanderbilt boys managed to overthrow the kings.
While it is true that DeBoer and Co. could’ve handled this game much better, it kind of felt like Nick Saban calling the Vanderbilt game easy came back to bite the Tide. Call it a curse or just a day of bad plays; DeBoer needs to learn a lot from this. Let’s hope the Tide does not disappoint in the next game.
