Just when the Georgia Bulldogs were reeling from the aftermath of a loss to Notre Dame, tragedy struck again. The Bulldogs’ QB, Carson Beck, soon hit the portal. Many thought it was the result of a lack of coherence of vision, too. Many believed he was merely testing waters and interest before jumping into the NFL world. While the speculations grew stronger, there is another picture, too.
Why did Georgia let go of Beck? You could argue it was a better move for the American quarterback, as he wanted to take the next big step. What about Georgia? Why did they let go of one of the most famous names in college football? It could be related to the sheer finances.
Beck’s transfer portal saga took center stage when DawgNation Daily’s Brandon Adams dug deep into the news. Joining him was the Bulldogs’ recruiting insider, Jeff Sentell. The latter drew parallels with the well-oiled system of the Kansas City Chiefs. How? He pointed out how the Chiefs could pay Patrick Mahomes high and then cut down on the payroll to other positions, such as wide receiver. However, the same wasn’t true in college football.

Sentell said, “You just got to look at quarterback development. You got to bring in the right guy, and he’s got to be that dude. Whereas, sometimes the way Georgia does it on the model right now is they try to find that lower four-star guy and kind of develop him up and let him get a couple of years seasoning against Georgia’s always salty defense.”

So, how do you go about it? You free up some money upfront, invest it in other slots, and make a well-rounded team instead of a team that revolves around one man. After all, Georgia’s system got found out this year. You never saw the dominant Georgia that you are used to seeing on the field. But where does it leave the 23-year-old QB as the Bulldogs take a different route to rebuilding?
Carson Beck goes to Miami!
Hayes Fawcett took to his X handle and broke the news to the football world. He wrote, “Georgia transfer QB Carson Beck has Committed to Miami, @on3sports has learned.” What’s more? He was listed as the #1 player on the transfer portal, and the Miami Hurricanes will have a gem in their hands. That’s not only it. There’s another angle to it.

Rusty Mansell has the quarterback’s move to the Hurricanes, as his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, is at the same university. He declared, “When you look at this, I think it’s Miami. I don’t know that 100 percent, but everything would make sense. His girlfriend goes there, he’s a Florida kid.”
However, that doesn’t take away anything from Miami’s hot pursuit of Beck. Why did that happen in the first place? Because they are set to lose Cam Ward to the NFL draft. In addition, their performances on the field suggest an upward trajectory. Miami failed to make the playoffs despite having a first 10-win season in many years, and with Ward taking his talent to the NFL, you can expect Beck to be their main man.
