Did Kirby Smart's strategic genius expose the Longhorns' vulnerabilities, or was it just luck?

Woah! October 19, Saturday gifted college football fans some crazy game. Coming off as an underdog, Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs literally smashed Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns. Well, the hype was real for the No.1 program. But Smart and Co. proved yet again that they are the best. Hold on! Here comes a slight modification to the analysis. According to the famous insider, you might not have the privilege of a roster. Not to worry teams! That should never be the reason to bury your championship dreams and play on a backfoot. You can very well emerge stronger as a threat just like Smart’s Dawgs. Meanwhile, as Georgia is now beaming with success, Sarkisian got extra tough with his QB.

You might agree or not but the Bulldogs made the unimaginable happen. After all, you say, was handing the Longhorns their first loss of the season easy? No, nah? But Smart’s crew made that happen without pestering over their weak points. Even if they came off good in only one aspect, they had put that to maximum use. That’s what wooed insider and podcast host Jake Crain. “I said all week this isn’t the Georgia team that we’ve seen in the past know three years and I still don’t think it is I don’t think the roster is as good,” commented Crain.

But even not being the best version of themselves, Smart’s squad achieved something fantabulous on Saturday eve. And what exactly did make the difference? The analyst highlighted, “But this year in college football you may not need a roster that is that good to win the national championship if your offensive line’s going to play like this.” Well, it’s hard to go away without giving the Dawgs’ OL their due credit.

Well, you must know how bad Smart’s offense looked this season. But against Texas, they lived by only one motto, ‘No. More. Slow. Starts.’ With Trevor Etienne at the helm, the RB carried the Bulldogs’ offense to the uproaring start. So much so, they pounded Longhorns limiting them to just 259 yards of total offense. This was enough for Sarkisian to lose trust in Quinn Ewers, who is now bearing the blows.

Steve Sarkisian switches gears after Kirby Smart’s smart play

Following their first loss this season, Sarkisian switched into a strict coach mode. As Smart’s squad flipped over the 50-game streak to end the Longhorns’ undefeated streak, Texas HC came up with a strict decision. And what is it? To bench his star QB Ewers amid a disastrous offensive start on Saturday night.

Can you imagine the Longhorns trailed 20-0? While Ewers was 6-of-12 for 17 yards and an interception. Not only that. He lost a fumble after a strip-sack in the first quarter gifting Bulldogs with 14 points. Right in that moment with only 4 minutes 43 seconds left in the Q2, Sarkisian got desperate to replace Ewers with redshirt freshman star quarterback Arch Manning. That’s what you call fate! Initially, Ewers had reeled in all the confidence.

But how could the Texas HC just forget how Manning admirably filled in Ewers’ shoes? And what’s Steve Sarkisian’s take on it? “I’m sure Quinn wasn’t the happiest with me that he got taken out for a couple of series. I had to make a decision on what I felt was best for the team and for him at that moment…he’ll understand I was trying to do what was in his best interest,” clarified the HC. That’s how Kirby Smart has been smart enough to disrupt the status quo between Texas HC and his crew.
