Is Shilo Sanders' determination to play injured a sign of true grit or just for the clicks?

The Buffs vs Huskers game shot down 2 birds with 1 stone. First, it exposed that Deion Sanders’ “revamped” offensive line was still horrendous and needed a heck lot of work. There was almost zero protection for Shedeur Sanders and the Buffs were on a negative rushing yard. Second, the game cost Coach Prime, one of his key players, Safety Shilo Sanders. In order to stop a rush from Dante Dowdell, Shilo had to intercept, and that resulted in him suffering a forearm injury. While the surgery for his forearm went well, it definitely did not lessen Deion Sanders’ worries.

However, Shilo is here to lighten up the mood for everyone. On a clip posted on Shilo’s official Instagram account, he was asked a quick question by Deion Sanders Jr. “You playing this week?” Deion Jr. asked jokingly. “You want me to play this week? Alright yall since we play for clicks if this video gets 200,000 likes ima play this weekend,” Shilo replied. This was a subtle nod to when Dan Lanning called out Coach Prime and said the Buffs “played for clicks”.

While that incident happened way back, the points that were raised by Lanning or Finebaum regarding Colorado and Deion being all “Hollywood” still stand relevant. Now, don’t get us wrong. Deion Sanders has done wonders with the Buffs. The program was irrelevant before Coach Prime joined in and now it’s one of the biggest in CFB. People may troll it all they want, but you cannot disagree that Deion’s team has the potential.

While Nebraska did manage to bring the boys down on their knees, the Rams’ game showed us what they are truly capable of. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter both put on a show. With Shedeur grabbing 4 TDs and over 300 yards and Hunter breaking a 20+-year-old record with 100 rush yards, 2 TDs, and 1 defensive interception. Whatever the O-line did wrong against the Huskers, they did right against the Rams, and this goes to show that the boys can learn from their mistakes. However, while we still don’t know what awaits the Buffs for the remainder of the 2024 season, we do know one thing; Shilo probably ain’t going to be a part of it.

Back on September 9th, Deion Sanders took to his Instagram to share a few snaps of Shilo with a plaster around his hand. We then got further reports that the surgery was a success and Shilo was doing much better. However, Coach Prime is expecting his boy will be back on the field in 2-3 weeks, but realistically, it might take longer to recover from this injury.

Have an interesting take?

Well, based on research done by MD, Joshua D. Harris, involving 33 NFL players who underwent ORIF surgery, it was found that it took an average of 152.1 days for them to return to the game. “Forearm fractures can be career-threatening injuries for professional athletes,” he noted. This basically means no more 2024 season for Shilo Sanders. While we do wish the Safety a quick recovery, what fate do you think waits for him?
