A worthy homage! It is strongly appreciated that Indiana stays undefeated this season under the leadership of head coach Curt Cignetti. Last Saturday, the Indiana Hoosiers defeated Nebraska 56-7, securing their seventh consecutive victory of the season. Not only was the stadium game sold out, but with 53,082 fans in attendance, it was the program’s first sellout since 2021. Now, Indiana pays a special homage to its gifted “Google me” coach on Saturday before their matchup with Washington.
With the title, “These Cignetti towels are UNBELIEVABLE,” Pat McAfee posted a video on his X account on October 25th, alluding to Curt’s distinctive writing style. According to the video, Indiana will place towels on the student section seats for fans to wave during the game against Washington. The towels resemble the front of a Marlboro cigarette packet, with “Cignetti” where the brand name would typically appear.

“That’s good looking. That’s a good looking bib. That is a good looking bib.” McAfee said, summarizing the entire situation. Furthermore, he asserted, “Getting a good look at it. Indiana is on fire right now. It is buzzing and these are hysterical sick. Probably the coolest. Logo that’s been made for a coach. Absolutely. And he did. I mean he does not. He’s not budgie. He’s cool.“

This isn’t the first time, in case you didn’t know. There were towels on the seats at last week’s game against Nebraska that said, “‘Study later.’ – Coach Cig.” Prior to this towel, Indiana supporters created a T-shirt in honor of this outstanding coach for his first-year coaching accomplishments with the Hoosiers.

Since the Hoosiers qualified for the Rose Bowl in 1967, Indiana’s 7-0 record is its best. IU hasn’t fallen behind in a game this season and is now ranked 16th in the country. The head coach, Curt Cignetti, is hailed as the success’s driving force. After Cignetti’s five-year tenure as head coach of the James Madison, which ended with a 52-9 record, IU hired him in November 2023. And since then, seen the improvement!

Fans who aren’t used to the Hoosiers’ unexpected football success have made a variety of “Coach Cig” T-shirts in remembrance of the man who transferred from Madison to IU. Really cool and adorable! At the season’s opening football game, the first Cignetti T-shirt was distributed. It featured the Marlboro emblem along with the word Cignetti. Issac Perlich, the production assistant of IU, claimed that he now saw them worn by individuals everywhere.
Safe to say, Indiana set the bar high. We’ll see what the supporters do next to honor their legendary head coach.
