The Buffaloes witnessed a monumental victory in the last few seconds against the Baylor Bears, and it was all thanks to the dumbfounding dynamic between Shedeur Sanders and LaJohntay Wester. Coach Prime’s team was looked up with a lot of hype and expectations this season. They’ve always been accused of not being good enough for the competition, and yet, their recent wins are bringing over a surge of change to the minds of the fans, and they’re just getting started. The highlight of the Buffaloes’ win over the Bears by a score of 38-31 was when Shedeur threw out the ‘Hail Mary’ pass, which refers to a long forward pass that was thrown into the end zone, which in turn, was caught by Wester barely inches away from the ground. Additionally, here’s what was going through the mind of the QB as he made the game-winning throw.
On the ‘2Legendary’ podcast hosted by Shedeur himself, he invited his beloved teammate Jimmy Horn Jr. to discuss all things related to the Colorado Buffaloes and how their season has been going somewhere. From one of the clips of the unreleased episode, the fans got to witness Shedeur talk about the much-loved Hail Mary throw that won the game, and he described his feelings and analysis during the pivotal moment of the match.
Horn Jr. talked about how he thought Shedeur got sacked, and the Colorado star replied, “I was already hurt; I was sold on your touchdown. Then I felt the closing seconds like the DN or something got through the line of scrimmage and he was chasing me. And then in the final second, I threw it up in like an area, and then that was it, and Tay made it happen.”

Thus, Shedeur and the WR Travis Hunter were rightly the heroes of the game against the Bears, and hopefully, as the season progresses, the team can rely on their talents to lead them to glory yet again. With that being said, here’s a look at what Deion had to say about the overall growth of Shedeur as a quarterback after the hail mary.
Coach Prime comments on his son’s growth from last season.
After the fumble that Hunter subjected Baylor’s attack to, the CU fans swarmed the field without even waiting for an official decision on the tackle. Though it was unprofessional, as Deion also said, it captured the essence and magic of college football and what an electric win like that meant to the fans. The win against Baylor was unlike anything that the Buffaloes have ever put up, and Coach Prime admitted that as well. Moreover, it was undoubtedly the talents of Shedeur who recorded 2 touchdowns of his own as well, along with putting up a fantastic performance.
This is a whole new Shedeur that differs vastly from the 2023 season, who was sacked over 52 times last season. He’s still getting sacked, but this season he manages to pull off the essential throws to record points on the scoreboard for the team. Commenting on his growth from 2023, Deion said, “He’s matured tremendously. Not just as a freshman but from a baby to where he is now, but at this level I expect it, you know, when these two guys are on the field together, as long as with the rest of the guys, I expect them to do something spectacular because they do it in practice. They practice with purpose. I mean, when they play and they prepare with purpose, I have tremendous expectations for them.”
