Will Jackson Cantwell's choice of Georgia over Nebraska define his future football legacy?

Jackson Cantwell might not be the present hype name that your Google suggests but believe that the future looks up to the 16-year-old kid. Nixa (Mo.) High five-star Jackson Cantwell continues to gain traction as the highly sought-after football recruit as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2026. With his phone possibly blowing up every other minute with offer calls from the biggest schools, the athletic genius isn’t paying heed to all.

What does the future breakout star have in his criteria? Well, he and his Olympian father have been pretty meticulous about several factors, with education and sports being at the top. Initially, there were a lot of fish in their fillet, but ultimately, they managed to cut it down to two main choices: Georgia Bulldogs and Nebraska Cornhuskers. But ON3’s Josh Newberg furled the thread even more, and boom, it’s a jackpot for the Bulldogs.

The Nixa High School OT recently gave Nebraska an edge in catering to their family ties. The five-star lineman even visited Nebraska frequently and has been solidifying his relationship with Huskers’ offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. He finds it intriguing to accumulate career-transforming lessons from him in a fun environment. Another one with family ties would be Missouri, as the young prodigy’s father had a visit there. Also, the recent performance high and the proximity advantage (closest to Cantwell’s house) kept Mizzou quite higher in the race to sign the world-class prospect.

But the ultimate league owner is Georgia. The On3‘s recruiting director, Newberg, noted, ”If there’s one school kind of setting the pace you know I would say Georgia he keeps going back to Georgia.”

The reason? ”Like I asked him specifically a couple of weeks ago after that trip to Athens about kind of what keeps him going back, and he couldn’t think of a good answer just think about just likes it there he has a good time around the people obviously George is Player Development kind of speaks for itself and they’re you know a national championship you know battling program every year,” said the media giant, spilling a private chat with the kid on the boards.

Every other school, including USC, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas A&M, wants a piece of the 6’8″ No. 1 overall prospect, but not all can’t get what they shoot for. There is ample time left before we get full and final news on this. Meanwhile, Cantell is focusing on chiseling out the best version of himself as a footballer. Wondering how? He is testing his agility over the track and field.

Have an interesting take?

Jackson Cantwell is trying to excel in two sports at once

The standout high-school junior set his bar high in the sport that has been in his blood since birth. The excellence in shot put, the quintessential Olympic sport, short put saw him win a coveted title at June’s Nike Outdoor Nationals earlier this year. The sight of him lurking at a violent spin with an intense, passionate gaze would fascinate any sports freak in the world. The way he discussed the minutes after every throw and the distance they have the potential to travel would be enough to set a testament of what kind of a class athlete and achiever he is. But for the 17-year-old, it was just a groundwork for his better mobility with the football.

The five-star football recruit believes the orchestration in his feet and the insane speed would ultimately give him an edge in psyching out defenders in the trenches. ‘‘That translates to football really well because you’re moving a heavy person on the offensive line.” said the cultivated intellect of the son of the 2008 Olympic silver medalist
