Moeller High School is mourning the loss of their legendary coach, Gerry Faust. Faust, who passed away on November 11th at 89, was more than just a coach; he was a mentor who inspired countless young lives. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Moreover, under his leadership, the Crusaders achieved remarkable success, securing five state championships and four national titles before Faust transitioned to the CFB team at Notre Dame. As we remember him, let’s take a look at his family and the profound influence he had on their lives.

Talking about Gerry Faust’s lady love, he married the woman of his dreams, Marlene Agruso, on April 4, 1964. Faust only desired two things in his life; the first was to be a head coach at Notre Dame, and the second was to marry a simple Catholic girl. Marlene was the best thing that ever happened to him. Both of them have three beautiful kids and six adorable grandchildren, who filled their lives with amour and happiness. One of their kids, Steve Faust, was a Notre Dame graduate, too.

The man who took a small school program from Montgomery Road to a high-end national program for the team can never forget his efforts and dedication to them. That’s the kind of impact he had over Moeller High School before moving to Notre Dame.

Gerry Faust lived his dream as Notre Dame’s head coach, even though his tenure wasn’t as successful as he had hoped. During an interview, he said, “If I had a chance to do it all over again and knew the results were going to be the same, I’d still do it.” That’s what we call a true gem.
