Is Travis Hunter the Heisman hero college football desperately needs to break the QB dominance?

“Who’s doing the godda-n odds?” You gotta give it to Travis Hunter, man. 3 back-to-back games and 3 back-to-back solid performances that can even put the best in the game to shame. Travis Hunter is the IT factor of CFB, and now there is no denying that he is the best pick for the next Heisman award. This dude has done everything from bringing in touchdowns for the Buffs to intercepting plays and turning it over for the boys.

So it ain’t no wonder why former NFL star Chad Ochocinco Johnson is all in for the idea of breaking the ritual and crowning Hunter as the best. “There are so many different factors that go into it, but with what Travis Hunter is doing, it needs to be taken into account, this is something special. There are very few players who are able to play on both sides of the ball,” Ocho mentioned on First Take. You gotta keep in mind that in all of the 3 games (CSU, Baylor, and UCF), Hunter maintained the same energy as both WR and CB.

Take Rocky Mountain Showdown. Not only did Hunter manage to grab 2 touchdowns and 100 yards under his belt, but he also had 1 solid defensive interception. The same momentum was maintained against Baylor when Hunter grabbed the W for the Buffs with the game-winning fumble during overtime.

And don’t even get us started on the UCF showdown. Not only did this guy manage to land a touchdown and also do the same interception magic he had done with the Rams QB (intercepting a pass and returning the ball by some yards), Hunter also did the iconic Heisman pose as his TD celebration.

You gotta keep in mind that the Heisman awards are mostly dominated by quarterbacks. However, with the skills Hunter has managed to showcase and will showcase, he deserves that ticket to New York. What’s left to see is what Travis Hunter manages to get done during Deion Sanders biggest test.

The final hurdle for Travis Hunter and Coach Prime

As the Wildcats game nears, the realization sets in that Deion Sanders and his boys have to clutch this one. Standing on Rank 2 in the Big 12 list, Coach Prime needs this win to be the next best. Back during the pregame post-conference, Deion already gave a firm reality check to Shedeur Sanders and Co. “You learn a lot from successes. You don’t just learn from when you’re getting your bu-t kicked,” Coach Prime had mentioned.

Have an interesting take?

While it is true that the Buffs have been on a roll with 3 back-to-back wins, the boys still cannot let this get to their heads. You gotta keep in mind that this is college football and even the best teams can fumble hard (*stares at Alabama*). Hunter is already in his best shape and Shedeur has shown nothing but improvement in each of his games.

Now with Shilo Sanders coming back to the turf, this is gonna be a whole new level of performance. Deion Sanders will have access to all of his defensive starters and this will boost the D-line performance considerably. We gotta wait and watch what Coach Prime and Co. manage to get done.
