Does Nick Chubb's snowy performance prove SEC players can thrive in Big 10's cold conditions?

The college football season is streaming hot, with a couple of weeks left on the threshold. While till January, we will have to hold our breath to know who is the new national champion, the regular season will close out as early as December. But no worries, football fans! Now, it’s time to please your tantalizing inquisition with fresh, flipping news on the recruitment front. As we inch closer to the national signing day, it’s safe to expect a lot of reshuffling in the roster. But are the Big 10 juggernauts like Michigan, and Ohio State, Indiana on the verge of losing some of their potential flips in the resurgence of a typical cold weather debate? Let’s dig into their ambiguity.

Coaches are on their final bit of attempt to leave the best impression on their key targets, while athletes look to ensure all their quality demands are met before giving a written word to a school. And here comes the quintessential age-old rivalry between the SEC bigwigs and the Big 10 giants to stockpile more talents. But the former NFL linebacker, Ryan C Fowler, is playing spoiler in the Big 10 hopes. He brought back a Nick Saban interview to issue a stern warning for those recruits who are planning to jump ship to the Big 10.

Nick Saban, the bona fide Bama coach, was asked about how cold weather makes a game change for the teams involved. The mogul promptly responded, ‘‘We haven’t had this kind of weather much anywhere in the country and I do think football changes when it’s cold. The ball changes, catching the ball changes, holding on to the ball changes, so getting hit changes. So there are a lot of things that change when there’s really really cold weather.” Fowler asked the potential Big 10 flips to take note and reconsider their decision.

But it seems finally, at the season’s peak, they will have their wish met as a few southern teams are likely to head to the north for a road game in December.

Does Nick Chubb's snowy performance prove SEC players can thrive in Big 10's cold conditions?

Have an interesting take?

Nick Chubb stood firm on the other side of Saban and other CFB legends who voted for the cold weather factor, making it harder for the players to score. He’s already making a case that the Big 10 home stadium’s unfavorable weather isn’t a concern for a southern SEC at all. But guess what? He didn’t do this by some cliche ranting or by bringing up any old theory in favor of his point. Rather, he did it by his play.

Chubb and the Cleveland Browns brought out their best in a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday (November 21). The stadiums, wrapped up in fresh snow, saw a historic showdown from the 28-year-old standout Running Back.

He rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns, keeping the blizzard on watch. The Browns racked up a dominant 24-19 victory. For all those who doubted the Big 10 stadium weather hiccup, Chubb’s performance is an eye-opening call, maybe to put a long-standing debate to rest.
