In the middle of a high-flying season, the one question that has become a recurring theme is who will claim the coveted Heisman Trophy this year? With Jayden Daniels (2023) and Caleb Williams (2022) joining the list in the recent past, there are a handful of superstars who are on watch for the year 2024. Those who get themselves to that level have some extra sweet pressure on their season performance, as the slightest change in the stats can do a lot to their Heisman dream. Just a week back, it was Hunter and Jalen Milroe who led the race as top-tier stars, with Ashton Jeanty patiently waiting for his chance at the No.2. Eventually, the Broncos sensation got that opportunity to shine and be in the shoes of Hunter and Milroe, dishing a stellar performance against the Utah State on Saturday night. The upshot? He is the new number 1 in the Heisman odds contention.
Heisman Odds Following Week 6, per FanDuel:
Ashton Jeanty +220
Travis Hunter +320
Cam Ward +450
Jalen Milroe +1000
Cade Klubnik +1300
Dillon Gabriel +1400
Carson Beck +1800
Jaxson Dart +1800
Quinn Ewers +2000
Nico Iamaleava +3300
Jeremiah Smith +3300 pic.twitter.com/GYu7eq2l6r— College Football Report (@CFBRep) October 6, 2024
Consequently, Travis Hunter, Cameron Ward, and Jalen Milroe come next in order on the list. Jalen Milroe has rightly fallen after Bama’s tough loss to an unranked side in their Week 6 game.
Jeanty, 21, propelled the fans to shift attention to him right from the beginning of a breakout season. The Boise State tailback had some excellent numbers, covering 259 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries in an unbelievable 45-24 victory over the Washington State Cougars. But it was his insane week 5 performance against Utah State that took him to the top.

Ashton Jeanty gains the lead of the Heisman odds after delivering a banger against Utah State
It will never be an exaggeration if we call Broncos standout running back Ashton Jeanty a living running machine. Jeanty stunned the college football realm surpassing 1000 rushing yards on his 90th carry of this season, giving coach Danielson an instant reason to dub him as the ‘best player in the country.’ But there was more to his plate.
On a breezy Saturday night against Utah State, the young RB laced up his shoes and did the unthinkable. In the early half, Jeanty ran for 186 yards and was looking to take the stat to a soaring 190 until Boise State didn’t decide to take him out in a blowout. It’s a treat for every football fan to see Jeanty averaging 11 yards per carry on 95 rush attempts this season, making it to a 1,000-yard season in just five games.

”We protect him. We’re going to be smart with Ashton because of how vital he is to our team, and we need to make sure we get other guys reps in there. Also, at that point, I don’t know what his rush yards were, but we know he had enough.”, said the Broncos coach for the top Heisman watch.
If this is what Jeanty continues to bring to the table, it is safe to say that the Heisman honor will be in safe hand for a year. Do you also think so? Let us know in the comments.
