Is Arch Manning the future of college football, or is he just another overhyped name?

After defeating Colorado State and Michigan, the Texas Longhorns were all set to face UTSA, but unfortunately, as soon as the game kicked off, Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers had to leave Saturday’s game in the second quarter because of a strained abdomen. And that was not the only setback the 21-year-old quarterback had to face.

Ewers’s injury made way for Arch Manning in the 3rd week for the Longhorns. As a backup, Manning took advantage of the opportunity and led their offense to a 56-7 victory over UTSA. He made some significant contributions and passed for 233 yards, scored four touchdowns, and added a 67-yard rushing touchdown. As the game is getting closer to the national championship, the 2024 Heisman Trophy race is equally heating up. The change in quarterback’s position has gone in Manning’s favor as he has entered the Heisman Trophy race with his performance against UTSA.

It looks like with Manning’s impressive performance and stats, Ewers’s dream of winning the Heisman Trophy cannot be achieved. An X account of College Football Reports tweeted the list of players with their points, and guess what? Manning has joined Carson Beck and Jaxson Dart, but sadly Ewers is missing from the list. Big names like Travis Hunter, Miller Moss, and Jalen Milroe are part of the race.

Arch Manning was a headline magnet yesterday, as he continues to impress the spotlight on him, and the entire team will just keep growing brighter. This is his second season with the Longhorns, and the fact that he has already made it to the Heisman race speaks a lot about his potential and skills. However, the race is getting more competitive, and the QB’s abilities and performance on the field will play a critical role in determining his position in the race.

Texas Longhorns dominated UTSA in the 3rd week

With back-to-back three victories, the Texas Longhorns are dominating college football. This is not the first time they are at 3-0 in the season. Although many key players from their team were injured, before leaving the field, Ewers threw for 185 yards and completed 14 out of 16 passes.

Arch Manning stepped in for Ewers, played with the same intent, and finished with 233 total yards and five touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Trey Owens started off the fourth quarter and went for 2 out of 4 passes with 19 yards. Throughout the Longhorns were looking strong, and wide receivers also made an impact when Isaiah Bond racked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns. On the other hand, freshman Ryan Wingo helped with his contribution of 127 receiving yards and one touchdown. Sophomore Johntay Cook II also scored twice on his 3 receptions.

The daily Texan Newspaper reported head coach Steve Sarkisian’s statement after the match, “I thought offensively, the explosiveness kind of came alive tonight.” He added, “Which was something we were hoping to be able to do… We’ve been efficient the first couple weeks, but to create the explosive pass plays was big for us.” Steve’s comments highlight the key developments for his team. It also reflects on the team’s ability to generate explosive plays, and moving forward, their vision to dominate is clear.
