The name that sent Colorado Buffaloes dual-threat Travis Hunter some chills in the Heisman race, is himself hanging by the thread. Yes, Ashton Jeanty’s luck in Heisman might get snapped at any moment. But who cares? Not Jeanty at least. The Boise State Broncos RB is busy dropping hints about his next destination, commencing the NFL chapter of his career.

Looks like, he is all excited to be taking the side of the $4.3 billion NFL giant. The purpose? To form the shortest backfield. Tagged as Michael Myers of college football, looks like Hunter goes one step ahead of him as the Buffs crushed Texas Tech Red Raiders on November 9.

You don’t have to dig deep to figure out. It was just a month back that Jeanty happened to enjoy the top seat of landing the 45-pound bronze coveted prize. Remember the time when the Boise State RB himself carried the pigskin 31 times for 217 yards against the Utah State Aggies? Well, looks like he has lost his magic and had put up a quiet performance against San Diego State leading to his Heisman odds taking a sharp dip. However, Jeanty hardly has any time to worry about it and is already obsessing over the next chapter. Unlike others, he did not keep it a hush-hush game as he without any hesitation shared about his interest in boarding the $4.3 billion Arizona Cardinals. Well, he did not take any name and instead came up with an intriguing quote, “I could get down with Kyler [Murray].”

Well, that’s not some random quote, but Jeanty knows very well what are his intentions as he stated, “You know we’re going to be the shortest backfield in the NFL.” But it’s too early to jump to conclusions since previously he named the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, and Dallas Cowboys, and the Arizona Cardinals just got added to the list. Now what are the chances of Jeanty’s wish coming true?

How Ashton Jeanty is out of reach of his dream team

At 5’10”, Kyler Murray is known for being the shortest active quarterback in the NFL. On the flip side, the running back position has players on the shorter side but Jeanty stands at 5’9”. Now even if we keep the heights aside, Jonathan Gannon’s program is 6-4 so far in 2024. And what does that mean? They are probably not lucky enough to get the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. So as per the Sports Illustrated’s mock draft, Jeanty is likely to land with the No.11 Dallas Cowboys. With this, his dream to be “shortest backfield in the NFL” will remain unfulfilled. But so what? He at least landed an interesting tag.

For his stature in gridiron, Jeanty has been compared to the infamous serial killer from the Halloween series, Michael Myers. Well, anybody would have taken offense to that. But deep down, Jeanty knows that it is some sort of praise since he is able to destroy his opponents on the field just like Myer does on screen. After Colorado defeated Texas Tech 27-41, the Buffs victory took Travis Hunter one step ahead of Ashton Jeanty. During the November 9 game, Hunter had nine receptions for 99 yards and one touchdown that left the Boise State RB in the third spot. Maybe it’s high time that Jeanty pulls up his socks, gets ready, and stops the teases about his next stop in the future. What is on this line right now is that Heisman dream!
