Can everyone collectively agree that the committee has many bias issues going on? See, the Heisman is something that almost every QB dreams of having. Right now, sitting on top of the list, is Dillion Gabriel from the Ducks. The dude has a +275 odds on the Heisman list and has been killing on the forefront of the Ducks offensive line. However, here is the thing: there is a huge possibility that someone more deserving than Gabriel needs to be in that top spot. Enter Will Howard. The Buckeyes have had quite the year. Ryan Day and Co. are running on a 9-1 run and are safely settled on the 2nd spot in the CFP rankings list.

But this does make your head scratch on why, despite being on top of all the lists, Day’s prized QB, Will Howard, is not even considered a contender for the Heisman trophy. This is exactly what OhioStateMan pointed out on X. “How is it that Gabriel has all this Heisman hype, and Will Howard doesn’t?” OhioStateMan mentioned in their post. This is a good observation. If we go for analysis on pure stats, Howard is slaying it on that turf. This guy has already managed to collect 2484 yards along with 24 touchdowns under his belt.

When you compare this with Gabriel, while Dillion has covered more yards (3000+), he still has 2 touchdowns less than Howard and has thrown more interceptions than him as well. And that ain’t all. Howard also has a better QBR rating than Gabriel.

Despite all of this, the Buckeyes QB is not even in the Top 10 spot. This dude is standing on +10000 Heisman odds, which is straight-up wild. We will highlight one fact, though; even Gabriel is not in the top spot. He is on the 2nd rank, while Travis Hunter is standing on the 1st spot.

Regardless, Buckeyes fans on X agreed with what Buckeye Irrationalist pointed out. And the recent Ducks vs Wisconsin game and Buckeyes vs Northwestern game also solidify the fact that Howard should probably be on the 2nd or at least the 3rd rank. But, let’s take a look at what the fans pointed out on X.

Why is Will Howard overlooked for the Heisman despite outperforming Dillion Gabriel in key stats?

No Heisman hype for Will Howard

“Gabriel and Rourke are considered “Heisman Darkhorses” while Will Howard is still considered to be “just a game manager” and “some guy who couldn’t start at Kansas State”?” was the first thing one fan pointed out. After the Cam Ward disaster against Georgia Tech, many had thought that there would be a new name (aka Howard) on the Heisman list. But nope. It is the same old; Hunter vs Gabriel vs Ashton Jeanty. And if we are bringing in Rourke in the discussion, even he has been snubbed off from the list.

On the same note, another fan pointed out, “I don’t understand why Will Howard isn’t even in the Heisman discussion. Seems very disrespectful tbh.” As we pointed out before, the only other QB who can relate to this drama would be Hoosiers QB Kurtis Rourke. This dude has been in the center of the Hoosiers’ 10-0 run, but people barely talk about this guy.

Another fan mentioned, “Did you know Will Howard has the 3rd best quarterback rating in college football that are starters (Arch Manning doesn’t qualify)?” Correction: Howard is on the 4th spot. Jaxson Dart, Ward, and Rourke have better ratings than him. But do you know where Gabriel stands? ON THE SEVENTH SPOT.

Finally, one last fan noted, “Will Howard and Dillon Gabriel have almost identical stats. One is worshiped, the other is mocked. Time to start showing Will Howard the respect he deserves!” For now, it doesn’t look like the list is getting fixed anytime soon. What fans can do is wait and see if anything changes on the odds list.
