Greg McElroy just dropped a bombshell prediction that has FSU fans sweating. Appearing in a video by the ACC on their official X handle, McElroy did not mince his words as he spoke about the forthcoming ACC championship. He sees Miami coming out on top, leaving Florida State in a familiar, agonizing position.

In his analysis, McElroy pointed out that the ACC is looking like a three-horse race this year with FSU, Miami, and Crimson as the main contenders. Now regarding the championship game, McElroy’s perception is that it is going to be between Miami and FSU. But here is where it gets a bit risky for the Seminoles. For Miami, McElroy predicted a victory in the game as well as in the ACC championship marking their first in 2024.  “There are more known commodities on the roster, they have been able to upgrade at just about every position,” he said before pointing out why he is supporting the Hurricanes.

McElroy’s confidence in Miami stems from the significant upgrades the team has made across the board. He highlighted how the Hurricanes have strengthened almost every position, giving them an edge over their rivals. “We are taking Miami at this point,” McElroy said, and he is optimistic that the improvements that are in the team will translate to big-time performance this season.

The Hurricanes have been going up, particularly in the past few years, but they have made some notable strengthening of their roster, particularly with an eye towards a deeper playoff run. What the current staff has done is not only establish the team as the powerhouse of the ACC conference but as a contender on a national level. McElroy’s prediction, while bold, reflects the growing belief that Miami is ready to take the next step and finally capture that elusive ACC title.

On the other hand, at least McElroy’s comments are a straight shot to the gut for FSU fans who have been here before. Last season, the Seminoles were left waiting on Selection Day, hoping for a spot in the playoffs, only to be left out. McElroy’s knock-on assertion was that FSU might experience a similar misfortune this year as Miami punching their ticket to the playoff over them.

Characterizing the Seminoles’ situation as rather similar to that of the team last year, McElroy expressed doubt about their ability to make it to the selection day: “FSU, much more like last year, will be waiting around on election day to find out whether or not they are in.”

This is not the type of prediction the FSU fans would wish to hear especially after their disappointing season the previous year. The Seminoles are undoubtedly talented, yet Greg McElroy may well get it right, and Miami might just be the team to rise and challenge them. If his prediction holds, FSU could be in for another agonizing wait come Selection Day.
