The championship weekend is heating up and all you can expect is to be shocked out of your wit as multiple teams will fall flat in their last playoff hope. Apart from the SEC and ACC championship clash, hype swirls around the Mountain West championship featuring Boise State and UNLV in a spiced-up Saturday. Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman favorite, mounted a Superman season to take his team to an unprecedented high and will look to step on an ultimate test against the UNLV Rebels on the home turf. A win can not only just guarantee them an automatic bid as the MWC champions but also grant a steadfast rise to Jeanty’s Heisman hope. But would that even be a chance for the Broncos? Greg McElroy has a stunning answer.
The Broncos will head to the make-it-or-loose-it fight as a 3.5 favorite against UNLV. Plus, they have the history by their side. Last year, when the two powerhouses met in the same MWC clash, Boise State wreaked havoc on UNLV by a massive 44-20. Danielson and his boys look even more red hot in the rematch this year, stringing along four victories in a row. But wait, UNLV also did a lot of homework and is ready to change the narrative around this time. All they have to do is avoid giving away an early lead.
Reflecting on a fiery forecast, Greg McElroy noted, ”If Boise can grab an early lead, can UNLV throw their way back into it? Now, Haji Malik Williams, for as good as he is as a runner, and frankly, he’s made pretty good decisions to a 17 to 4 touchdown-interception ratio. His off-target percentage isn’t great, he’s around 14% off-target, which is 95. Boise is a team that once they get the lead, they attack. They have 45 sacks that are second most in the FBS.”

Hajj-Malik Williams is an athlete to count on for real. He ran the offense for the team and had the experience of steering the team to success, even in the trickiest places. Remember the QB situation at the start of the season? UNLV had a different guy leading the offense. Matthew Sluka left the Rebels after starting the first three games owing to some NIL dispute. However, Williams has led the team efficiently since taking over from Sluka. His mojo will once again be put to the test in the biggest game of the program’s history, and he’s more than ready to ace it with grace. Also, they have come far from the point where they took a gut in their punch from the Broncos. This UNLV is a different breed and can catch the nation off guard with a well-rounded, seamless win.
”I’m taking UNLV, I feel like they played Boise better than most the last time around and I think having seen Jeanty before having matched the physicality in the past they’ll be more equipped to do it this time around as well I also think HJ Malik is more confident at this point at the season I think the passing game for Boise won’t be able to take the pressure off the rushing attack like it was last time and I think UNLV pulls the outright upset.”, the veteran commentator came clean.
The automatic playoff bid looks like a legitimate possibility for the NO 19 UNLV as Barry Odom has set his card right to beat the odds.
Barry Odom forges a special plan for Ashton Jeanty
UNLV Rebels, quite essentially, have a solid defense plan to stop Jeanty and his squad. Well, the Heisman favorite gives a lot of reasons to fear him on the field and come prepared, but then the Rebels know how to keep his fire in check. The No 19 still didn’t forget the pain when Jeanty scored a winning touchdown in the fourth quarter of their last encounter in Las Vegas. But he didn’t get it with an easy ride, though. The Rebels tackled him like no other. The phenom took a tear in his elbow. UNLV restricted him to 128 rushing yards, marking his personal lowest for the season. But still, Odom isn’t taking him for granted.
Odom deems the Boise State sensation the best in the college football world. Detailing his curated plan for the game-changer QB, the Rebels HC noted, ”On fits, on support, on populating the ba-l. We need to try to eliminate as many 1-on-1 tackles as we can in that situation. Schematically, you’ve got to be right with every snap. If not, it could result in a touchdown.”

The game will be a Hajj-Malik Williams vs Ashton Jeanty power struggle, but it will be more of the entire team 11 of the Rebels vs Ashton Jeanty power struggle and everything in between you can’t see coming.
Bulk up for a huge show!
