Folks, we might’ve found the next “worst take in College Football”. Let’s talk about Travis Hunter. Yeah, the Buffs couldn’t crack the Big 12 title game, but that is fine. They jumped back from their 4-8 year to a massive 9-3 and a Bowl game invite. Now roll back to Hunter. -2500 odds for the Heisman, has been awarded multiple times for the best offensive player and defensive player. And god, those stats. Let’s look at their last game of the season. 116 yards with 10 catches and 3 touchdowns. If that wasn’t enough, he also managed to pick off a pass while on the defense.

Now, that was just one singular game. You take that and pull it across all the other games Hunter has played this season and it will make you realize why this guy is even in the talks for the Heisman. After all this, Greg McElroy still thinks Hunter isn’t it. Back on Always College Football, McElroy mentioned, “Um, I think Bryson Daily belongs in New York quarterback for Army. I think Ashton Jeanty belongs in New York. Ah, and I think Cam Skattebo belongs in New York.” No Travis Hunter? Okay, let’s get the Army argument first. The Black Knights grabbed their AAC title game win against Tulane and Bryson Daily was amazing.

He got 4 touchdowns, and all of them, in true Army fashion, were rushing TDs. In the entire season, he has managed to snag 877 yards with 8 touchdowns and 1 interception. These aren’t even half of what Hunter has done.

And Cam Skattebo? Yeah, he was a massive asset for Arizona State during the Big 12 title game. 2 touchdowns in 16 attempts is a good stat. But again, does this even compare to what Hunter is doing on the offense and the defense?

We won’t even bring Ashton Jeanty into this entire discussion. The guy is in god mode when it comes down to pulling in numbers as an RB. He has single-handedly managed to switch up the Broncos’ offense, and he indeed deserves to go to New York, but the case for Daily and Cam just feels weird. And if all of that wasn’t enough, McElroy didn’t even mention the names of some very important quarterbacks.

Where are Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders?

The Ducks. The No.1 team in the country, and you don’t think their QB deserves a New York ticket? 3500+ yards with 28 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. Dan Lanning struck gold when he got Dillion Gabriel and that undefeated schedule with the Big 10 title win can vouch for it.

What’s your perspective on:

Travis Hunter's stats scream Heisman, so why is Greg McElroy ignoring his brilliance?

Have an interesting take?

They got their bye week, and we cannot wait to see what they will do against the winner of the OSU vs. Vols game. Now, coming back to Shedeur Sanders. He earned that Golden Arm award, and that alone should give him the leeway to crack the Heisman.

Say whatever you want, but when you stand there and compare the 2023 Shedeur with this improved 2024 version, you will learn what a good quarterback is. If the Cowboys manage to snag this guy during the draft, they are gonna get blessed with a QB who doesn’t choke like Dak Prescott.
