With turmoil emerging across all CFB games in Week 13, the anticipated College Football Playoff (CFP) format and landscape were significantly shaken, going into the last week of the regular season. And the last set of CFB Playoff rankings on Tuesday is going to appear very different from what they did at the start of Week 13 if the changes and upheaval in the most recent US LBM Coaches Poll is a guide. However, the conference champion with the fifth-highest ranking automatically advances to the quarterfinals, while the top four have byes. In the middle of all of this, a CFB insider declared two Big 12 programs in the title game competition. You can guess who they could be.

According to Greg McElroy in the November 26th ESPN college football video, these two Big 12 universities are Arizona State and Iowa State. “Nine teams that are technically still alive for the Big 12 title game. Now the most likely scenario for all the tie Breakers and all this other stuff assuming Victory next week by these two teams. The most likely scenario is Iowa State and Arizona State. They win. They’re likely going to be playing in the Big 12 title game. The good news is these games are all kind of staggered so we’ll be able to take them all,” McElroy stated.

For those who don’t know, Colorado hosts Oklahoma State on Friday. Saturday, Arizona State is traveling to play Arizona Wildcats. Since BYU hosts Houston and Kansas State travels to Iowa State, the simplest route to a Title Game of CFB matchup would be for two of those four teams to win and the other two to lose. That would be great. Despite the fact that the victors are not decided upon in advance, there is no doubt that there is a difference of around one inch between teams one and ten in the Big 12. Consequently, the matchup will be a close call.

But, these teams are a little bit unpredictable on a week-to-week basis, according to Greg. As of right now, the real outcome will be revealed in time. However, it is still unclear which nine teams will compete for the CFP title. Have a look at the current CFB Playoff ranking; it may give you an overall idea.

Many assumed that such first-round byes would be given to the winners of the four strong leagues each year. However, the most recent rankings from the CFB Playoff Selection Committee present a different image. Boise State (10-1) topped all Big 12 schools in their rankings last week, which allowed the Broncos to earn the fourth seed and a first-round bye. But, it’s crucial to remember that the playoff seed does not always correspond with the top 25 rankings because the top four seeds are awarded to the four conference winners, regardless of where those four teams are ranked in the top 25. Without Boise State, there are Oregon, Miami, and Texas. So what about the remaining nine?

In the CFB Playoff race, the nine teams are Ohio State (seeded No. 5), Penn State (seeded No. 6), Indiana (seeded No. 7), Notre Dame (seeded No. 8), Alabama (seeded No. 9), Ole Miss (seeded No. 10), Georgia (seeded No. 11), BYU (seeded No. 12). It will now be exciting to watch those teams fight for a single spot. Do you look forward to the postseason games? These will brighten your days.
