Strip away the rings and the NFL wins. What do you get? A man that is genuine and truly cares about the people around him. It ain’t no wonder why fans regard Tom Brady as the GOAT. Not only has he had an immense impact on the NFL scene, but as a player and as a friend, he is one of the best. “The greatest player, the greatest career, a great, great person,” was what Bill Belichick had to say about Tom Brady. It’s kind of scary that we might never end up seeing another star like this in the NFL. Regardless, what Brady will leave behind are not only great game clips but also some powerful words of wisdom.
“Life is not about how much you succeed. It’s about what happens when you fail,” Brady had once said, and one amazing head coach just couldn’t get enough of these iconic words. Back on his Instagram story, Mater Dei HC Raul Lara shared the clip with the caption, “Listen! So true.” Lara and the Monarchs have been on a roll this year. Setting up a massive Cali State championship game after a 13-win season.

See, we have talked about this before. The CIF State football championship was a big deal for Lara and Mater Dei. They were going up against an equally undefeated 12-0 De La Salle in a high-stakes showdown. Although Mater Dei was the favorite, the Spartans were bringing in some heat. In the end, De La Salle took their first loss, leaving them at 12-1, in a game with a fired-up atmosphere.
“Let’s go!!!” was what Lara had to say before the game began, and this was more than enough to get the boys fired up. Mater Dei managed to clench a win with 37-15 on the scoreboard. The offense and defense stepped up, and the entire game was a full-on entertainer from the start to the finish.
And you know, we think that the players at Mater Dei are going to be massive once they transition over to college football. There have been so many glimpses of greatness from these boys, and one of them is already signed to the current No.1 team, the Oregon Ducks.

Let’s talk about Tomuhini Topui. If you ever think Mater Dei will fall behind defensively, fear not, Topui has got them covered. The 6’3″, 290-pound defensive behemoth made his presence felt with 5 tackles against the Spartans. Not a bad year for the kid—he also earned the Trinity League MVP award while playing for Mater Dei HS. Well, On3 has already marked him as a 4-star recruit for college football.
Remember the game against St. John Bosco? Mater Dei had a rough time, but Topui managed to snag 4 solo tackles and a sack to get the team back on track. We did get the news that Topui is signed with the Ducks for their 2026 season.
