Is Daniel Jones really the future of the Giants, or is it time to give Miller Moss a shot?

The New York Giants are in a tough spot this season, and everything is being pinned on QB Daniel Jones. Panic started rising after he signed that monumental four-year, $160 million deal. Until now, however, the promise has not been realized. The Giants have two games in the negative territory, and already, the frustration is ramping up. Jones received boos after Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, during which he threw two interceptions; one was a pick-six. It was difficult to sit through and worse when some fans jeered at him as he walked out of the MetLife Stadium. If the pressure on Jones wasn’t already high enough, their front office is already looking forward.

Giants GM Joe Schoen was also among the scouts in town watching the USC-Michigan showdown with an eye on quarterback Miller Moss. The team with this decision demonstrates that the organization has already started considering its further actions. Is Miller Moss the man likely to be offered the top job if Jones cannot have a turnaround?

This leaves Daniel Jones with some challenges ahead of him. Those grand expectations that come with securing a massive contract and the pressure from the fans and the management mean every game has to be a win. Opinionated critics such as Cam Newton have opined that Jones has failed to deliver as expected. “He’s got to show up or he’ll be out,” Newton said on his podcast last week.

Moving to Week 2, Jones came back to a life of sorts: he passed for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, the same fate was repeated with the Giants. New York Giants HC Brian Daboll is still showing belief in his starting quarterback, but the pressure is building. As for the boys, it is apparent that Jones must improve and bring it fairly quickly. Yes, the heat is on, as the Cleveland Browns come to Town. The Giants can’t afford to go winless for much longer.

Miller Moss: from backup to star—carving his path at USC

Miller Moss is shining bright at USC. He’s taken over as the starting quarterback, stepping in after Caleb Williams moved on to the NFL. His journey from backup to starter has been nothing short of impressive. Just look at his performance in the 2023 Holiday Bowl—he threw for a jaw-dropping 372 yards and six touchdowns. That game wasn’t just a fluke; it was a clear signal to everyone that he’s got the skills to lead this team.

After biding his time behind Williams, Miller Moss finally got his shot. The first two years were tough, mostly watching from the sidelines with limited chances to play. But he didn’t waste that time. He soaked up every lesson, stayed committed to the team, and honed his skills. When the 2024 season rolled around, he was named the starter after impressing everyone during the spring.

So far this season, Moss is showing he belongs. With 607 passing yards and two touchdowns already, he’s proving he can handle the pressure and lead the Trojans effectively. He’s echoing Williams’ success but is also carving out his legacy.
