Is Kalen DeBoer the right fit for Alabama, or is his inexperience costing the team victories?

While Alabama Crimson Tide emerged victorious against South Carolina last week with a close score of 27-25, concerns about head coach Kalen DeBoer’s coaching methods linger two weeks after their defeat to Vanderbilt. Well, the credit can’t be given totally to their Vanderbilt blowout; even in their last game against South Carolina, they won with a very close margin. This highlighted DeBoer’s inefficiency in leading a consistent team. However, Germie Bernard shared a different opinion regarding the whole situation.

Today, on the latest episode of the New Wave Podcast, Alabama’s star wide receiver Germie Bernard highlighted the reason behind the Tide’s struggle under new head coach Kalen DeBoer saying, “I just feel like last year we had a lot more experience, like we had a lot of older guys like sixth year, fifth year, even fourth year and that was a good thing. But after those guys left, they had to rebuild and stuff like that. I feel like coming here, bro, we got a lot of young guys, but a lot of guys that can go get it, bro. A lot of guys that are hungry, you feel me?” But isn’t it like young talent makes the game more intense?

Even after winning five back-to-back games with Kalen Deboer, questions were raised about Kalen DeBoer and his team. Alabama won their showdown against Georgia, but even after that, famous media personality Joel Klatt took a shot at Kalen DeBoer, saying, “The Georgia Bulldogs are a “better” team even though they lost their biggest faceoff.” Now you can understand what kind of hate persists for him in the CFB world, but DeBoer knows exactly what needs to be done with his team.

Kalen DeBoer on Alabama’s gameplay

Well, it was a do-or-die situation for Kalen DeBoer and the team after an upsetting loss against Vanderbilt. However, winning against South Carolina was not that easy. The team’s struggle with holding the football was quite visible throughout the game. But the defense did its part well; with just 34 seconds left in the game, Tide’s cornerback Domani Jackson intercepted Gamecocks star quarterback LaNorris Sellers on the last play of the game and secured a victory of 27-25 against them. Even Alabama star quarterback Jalen Milroe rushed for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and connected with wide receiver Germie Bernard for a late 34-yard score to help the team survive the game.

Even head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed Alabama’s rise and fall gameplay against South Carolina after their hard-fought faceoff, saying, “The ball wasn’t bouncing our way, but when we find a way to win when your back is against the wall like it was, even on the last drive there, I’m proud of these guys.” Well, it looks like DeBoer knows where they fell short in the game, and in the meantime, he is also motivating his players. That’s what we call an influential leader. Let’s see how Kalen DeBoer helps his team to cope up with their shortcomings in their upcoming games.
