The Georgia Bulldogs are ready to roll against the team that broke the Bulldogs’ 29-game winning streak last season and kicked them out of the college football playoff. However, per the AP poll, the Bulldogs are in the No. 2 position while the Bama boys stand 4th. “My growth was better being around Coach Saban and learning how to manage a lot of the tough situations you deal with.” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart once said back in 2015 when he was still coaching at Alabama under Nick Saban. But now that Saban is not in the picture anymore, how will Smart handle this tough situation?

While chatting with college football analyst Tom Rinaldi, Georgia’s head coach highlighted many aspects of the Bulldogs. When Tom asked him about how Georgia practices and what word he could use to describe its level, Smart replied, “Super Bowl.” “Super Bowl!” the analyst exclaimed in surprise hearing his response. To that, Smart explained, that’s how the environment of the organization looks like on any other practice day in Georgia.

While many would have been surprised to see the ‘Super Bowl’ reference in college football, we understand what Smart meant. He is referring to the mentality of the program, highlighting the intensity of their preparations. The goal every day? To practice to reach the mountain top. In college football, that is the national championship. Before that, these two teams may meet in the SEC championship game. Kirby Smart would like some revenge if that happens for his loss last year.

Moving forward, when the analyst asked him about the upcoming game against Alabama, which is a tough nut to crack, and his encounter with Nick Saban midfield last time they played together, what did he tell Saban? “Surely, you can’t do this forever. Anybody could. He probably could be foreshadowing for him to ever do it. Now he leaves one hell of a legacy,” said Kirby Smart, referring to the legacy Saban has left to Alabama, and now that he has retired, it is going to be an opportunity for Smart to grab.

While Smart sees endless opportunities in the 2024 season, a loss against no-Nick Saban Alabama is nothing but “humility,” in his words. Besides, let’s look at which program has higher odds to win as per analysts.

Odds favor the Bulldogs

All eyes are on Tuscaloosa Saturday night as No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide hosts No. 2 Georgia in a SEC matchup. Odds as per the spread say Georgia has -155 higher odds to win this game. Alabama, on the other hand, has +105 odds to win and they will probably face defeat. Added to that, according to Moneyline, Georgia holds -125 odds to beat Alabama and the Crimson Tide again needs +105 odds to see victory over the Bulldogs.

Besides, the last time Georgia was in action last week, their star quarterback, Carson Beck, struggled to move the pigskin against Kentucky’s defense, pushing his Heisman odds from 14/1 to 18/1. He finished the last game with 160 passing yards on a 15 of 24 completion rate, where the Bulldogs won with 12 first downs and 262 yards of offense.

Besides that, Alabama’s QB Jalen Milroe has significantly improved with each passing week. Added to that, his title of being called one of the nation’s top deep-pigskin passers remains intact. In their last game, he completed 7 of 14 passes for 302 yards and five touchdowns. We are just hours away from this matchup. Everything is on the line for both the head coaches. Let’s see who prevails.
