Kalen DeBoer and Kirby Smart have their eyes locked on the same target! Alabama is the top 2 according to 247Sports when it comes to 2025 high school player recruitment with 20 commitments, out of which are five 5-star players. Georgia meanwhile trails at No. 5 with 21 commits which include three 5-star players. But both still have a chance to improve their recruiting strength with one particular player who still remains uncommitted.
According to On3recruits’ Instagram post on September 25, there are now only four 5-star players of the 2025 class who are still uncommitted – Elijah Griffin, Justus Terry, Andrew Babalola, and Michael Terry III. All these prospects are highly sought after by the top college football programs like Texas, Georgia, and Alabama, among others.

With four months remaining for national signing day, Kalen DeBoer and Kirby Smart compete to win the commitment on Justus Terry. The 5-star+ defensive lineman has cemented himself as one of the most sought-after players of the 2025 recruiting class. The Manchester HS player recorded 38 tackles and four sacks in 2023 while adding three receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Terry, who was previously committed to USC, has two strong contenders in Alabama and Georgia. Kalen DeBoer relentlessly tried to recruit Terry ultimately making him take an official visit to Tuscaloosa in June. Still, the general perception is that the Bulldogs have an edge over the Crimson Tide in bagging Terry’s commitment.

As a family guy, Justus Terry desires to be with a good program that could keep him close to his loved ones. And for this Georgia native, Kirby Smart’s program fits his needs as he said, “Georgia’s been in my heart. They never left, to be honest with you.” He added, “When it comes to my decision, I want to be close to my family but at a good school that can still develop me.”
Even On3 gave Georgia a 96.8% of securing Terry’s commitment. But perhaps we need patience for this one because, as Terry mentioned previously on Dawgs247 and Bama247, he’ll only be making his commitment at the time of the Early Signing Day in December. Still, the next game between his two top teams could serve as a major decision-maker.

As reported by On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Justus Terry will be in attendance at the Georgia vs Alabama showdown on September 28, along with his father Juanee. This is a highly-anticipated game that will see the two mighty SEC teams who are both coming in strong with 3-0 each lock horns at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Last season, Alabama triumphed over Georgia in the 2023 SEC Championship game with a close 27-24 record. But can this year be different?
Georgia enters the game as the only FBS team to not allow a touchdown this season. Despite an underwhelming game against Kentucky in Week 3, the Bulldogs are a 2-point favorite to win the SEC battle. But even though Alabama is without Nick Saban, Kirby Smart still faces pressure ahead of the game. The upcoming matchup isn’t just going to be a battle for the win but a major determinant of their 5-star target’s decision.
