Well, the big day is yet to arrive. Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs and Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns are gearing up for their SEC championship game on Saturday, December 7. However, it looks like the analysts already have some crystal ball in hand. But who cares unless and until the predictions are not bad? Huddle up, Georgia fans! Things are going to look good for the Dawgs since they will have a favorable spot in CFP. Yes, at least the national analyst believes that no force, not even the conference results can shake Smart and Georgia’s destiny.
Okay, we get it fans, how perturbed you are to find out about where the prediction meters are leaning. With the conference championship games looming around the corner, the heat got 100x since it’s the first season of the 12-team playoff format. Not to worry any longer. Here is the national recruiting analyst and FOX5 Atlanta reporter Miles Garrett to calm your nerves. On December 5, the analyst posted about the ‘Playoff Bracketology’ and the Top 20 scenario. And as the tweet revealed, “The committee has hinted that the Dawgs are safe regardless of Saturday’s result. But here is how some things could shape out.” How is it going to be favorable?

Time for the same ol’ calculations. Smart’s Georgia is already coming off strong with a 10-2 this season. As per the penultimate playoff rankings, the Dawgs were ranked at No.5 while seeded as No.7. Not just this, they now have a 99.9% chance of making it to the playoffs. That’s because Smart’s boys had a harder time than Sarkisian’s army since Georgia’s schedule demanded tougher strength. Whereas the Longhorns mostly had to fight against unranked opponents. So, in case Georgia wins Saturday’s game they will be lucky enough to get the first-round bye. But what if they don’t?
Suppose Sarkisian’s Texas makes the most out of their chance to seek revenge for their last face-off where they lost against Smart’s program, still, it’s going to be an easy ride for the Dawgs. They will make it to the No.5 or No.6 spot, which will still be an easier draw for the CFP spot than No.10 or No.12. Now you know why Smart still now is in a calm and composed mood.

How Kirby Smart remains calm amid the storm
There is no way that we can take the Longhorns lightly. They are coming off strong with 11-1 and are only a win away from bagging the SEC Championship much like they did with the Big 12, 28 years back in 1996. While Smart should be bitter about his rivals, he marked himself safe from any sour reactions. Instead, came off as a very sweet competitor giving Texas its due credit.
“You’re asking if I’m surprised by them being in the game? They earned it. They played an SEC schedule. They won the most games of any SEC team this year. They’re a tremendous program,” that’s how the Georgia HC showered praise for their rival Horns. Does Smart genuinely think that Sarkisian’s army is strong enough or is it just his way of showing who the person with the bigger heart is?

Well, we don’t know that. But what we know is the fact that questions continued to surge just because Georgia is now struggling on the offensive side of the ball. That’s when college football insider Harry Lyles Jr. raised concerns, “We’re going to have to see something we haven’t seen often enough this year, which is a very good Carson Beck.” So now Georgia’s smooth path calls for some precision as Kirby Smart must zero in on maximizing Carson Beck’s capabilities.
