“Clicks.” The word that generated a lot of headlines in the offseason, particularly between former Colorado CB Cormani McClain and the Buffs HC Deion Sanders. He didn’t just leave the program but he said this as he left — “I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program.” Little did he know that he would ironically be promoting something he left Colorado for!
In his latest Instagram post on November 6, Cormani McClain revealed his new venture with Greensleeve in a collaborative video. He captioned, “Excited to announce my partnership with @greensleeve.co. We’re building a platform to help athletes find the best freelance content creators.” Not playing for clicks? Hard to comprehend.

As far as content creation is concerned, Colorado has one of the best content creators in Deion Sanders Jr. Cormani McClain left Colorado because he didn’t want to play for attention because, as he mentioned, he’s not into that kind of stuff. But now, the irony in this is that he not only seems to be interested, but he’s also pioneering the move.

The “clicks” narrative first began in 2023 with Oregon HC Dan Lanning’s infamous “playing for clicks” dig on Colorado. It was to shade Deion Sanders and the Buffs’ instant hype in college football after their first three-game win streak. Needless to say, Lanning and McClain weren’t the only ones who found problems with Colorado constantly on camera.
Colorado Buffaloes continue to generate clicks
While every college football program would welcome a surge in social popularity, not every player is born to thrive under the camera. Following Cormani McClain’s exit, Colorado also saw the departure of DL Bishop Thomas. When asked his thoughts about being under the camera constantly, he kept it real. He said, “I don’t want to say it was hard because I adapted to my environment. But I feel like it’s tricky. It’s very tricky… The hard part is not knowing what you’re gonna see today.”

Despite the trickiness of clicks, Deion Sanders and Colorado continue to emerge as one of the most popular teams, even getting a spot on the AP Poll ranking at No. 23 with their last 34-23 victory over Cincinnati. That Big 12 game garnered 2.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched Big 13 game of the weekend. Looks like Colorado is remaining in the spotlight, with Coach Prime drawing attention to Boulder from all sides.
