Gators’ 5-star CB, Cormani McClain, had nearly lost it after Billy Napier benched him. But this time, during the game against Kentucky, he was commendable. He demonstrated why he was so highly sought after in high school with an incredible exhibition of stopping on a dime and then breaking on the ball. Upon joining the Florida Gators program, that was his first official stat.

On October 20, Rivals.com shared a picture of Cormani McClain to referring his ‘a pick six’ with a caption, “THE WHOLE TEAM WAS HYPED FOR THE FORMER 5⭐️ 👏👏👏.” It indicates the significance of Cormani’s touchdown. In today’s game, after joining Cutter Boley, a rookie quarterback from Kentucky, McClain returned his first pass 29 yards for a pick-six touchdown.

Following this touchdown of Cormani, Florida snatched the victory today from the Wildcats, 48-20. After three straight losses dating back to the 2021 season, Florida defeated Kentucky. It’s a big deal! Following their 34-10 victory over Kentucky Wildcats in November 2020, it was the team’s first win over them. And it seems like the former 5-Star CB secures a berth in Billy Napier’s squad after his “six-pick.”

Even the statement of the head coach also reflects this. Before the season, Billy Napier stated, “He’s doing fine. I mean, I think a lot of this gets blown out of proportion. He’s a young player. Obviously we’re well aware of his history.” It indicates Cormani’s love is playing, but for some reason, he’s not getting the opportunity to do it. If you are unaware, McClain was a 5-star prospect and the top-ranked cornerback in the On3 as a part of the 2023 class.

Still, it’s unclear if Cormani would choose to continue with the Gators. Especially in light of Cormani’s repeated declarations that he wants to return to the Buffs.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Cormani McClain just prove he's the Gators' secret weapon with that stunning pick-six?

Have an interesting take?

As previously said, McClain attended the Knights’ game and wanted to see how the Buffs were doing. That is admirable and not particularly a mysterious theory or anything, but what leaves people perplexed is what he had done previously. McClain posted a photo of himself back in September, along with the remark, “Don’t @ me.” At this point, the image he uploaded is the issue—not the caption. On the back of the black t-shirt, this guy was wearing was a gold ‘1’. Which squad issued McClain the number one jersey? Can you guess? That’s right, the Buffs were involved.

Keep still. Keep your sanity. The decision by Cormani to transfer is still pending. However, one thing is for sure; this guy shouldn’t have to endure what he is. No football player should. Without a doubt, the hype surrounding him is real, and he is a terrific player. So, let’s see if he can recover after this “six-pick” or not.
