Do you know that the LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has unlocked a new identity for himself? Nussmeier is also known for his lover-boy image. Recently, his love life with Ella Springfield has been the talk of the town. They are known for their couple goals. But sadly, the fans are a bit concerned as Nussmeier and Springfield will now be in an LDR. Yes, the young chap had to make a choice. And he decided to stay in Baton Rouge for another year. Sadly, his ladylove can’t be part of the plan. But is it only because of the love for Brian Kelly’s program that he decided to stay back? Looks like there is more to the story. At the same time, Joe Burrow’s name is doing rounds.
One of the favorite couples in college football right now, Nussmeier-Springfield, will now be divided by distance. Springfield graduated in December with a degree in marketing and a concentration in sales. Now she has got some career aspirations for which she will have to move out of Baton Rouge. The initial plan was that Nussmeier would also join her since he too graduated this season. Sadly, the plans changed last minute as the quarterback decided to be in Louisiana for one more year.
Now it turns out that the athlete had some bigger plans doing rounds in his mind. That is to catch now Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Burrow’s record. Nussmeier’s stats are already doing the talking. On the After Further Review: LSU podcast, host analyst Matt Moscona stated, “Congrats as well to Garrett Nussmeier. Goes over 4,000 yards passing for the season.”

Now that’s definitely a big deal! As Moscona clarified, “The only other quarterback in LSU history to do that is the great Joe Burrow who threw for 5,000 yards like 5600 yards, actually something ridiculous like that in 2019.” Well, Burrow’s and Nussmeier’s paths have been different. The now NFL star transferred to LSU after serving as the backup at the Ohio State Buckeyes while Nussmeier waited his turn at Kelly’s program. But so what? That doesn’t stop the LSU quarterback from dreaming big.
As he once shared, “His story is very special. He had to wait his time as well. So just watching him and what he was able to accomplish in his two years at LSU was unreal. Hopefully, if I’m anywhere as close to him, I’ll be happy.” While running 1600 yards short to beat Burrow, it’s not that he is only dreaming big. At the same time, he is working towards fulfilling his dreams as well.

The Texas Bowl showed his deep well of talent and his practically boundless potential. He threw 304 yards and came with three touchdowns. Maybe it’s high time that the college football analyst takes back his words.
College football analysts’s take on Garrett Nussmeier’s potential
Remember the time when Kelly’s program’s dominance was crushed? Back in October, the Tigers lost shockingly to Texas A&M. It was equally shocking for the college football analyst Josh Pate. On his podcast, he came up with his take from the Week 9 mishap. He seemed to be upset with HC Kelly. “You kind of put your guy in an unfair position cuz Garrett Nussmeier is not Joe Burrow right?” Pate sounded disappointed.

Yes, he believed that Nussmeier has still a long way to go to reach Burrow’s caliber. He continued taking a stand for the LSU quarterback, “So you can’t look at him and say, Garrett, you know we can’t do this or that.” Later on, Kelly did realize his mistake of putting too much on Nussmeier’s plate, “We’ve got to help Garrett out. Quite frankly, we’ve got to give him a more balanced offense, and you know he can’t be that guy that’s got to throw for 365 yards.” But there should not be any doubt about Nussmeier chasing Burrow’s dreams.
After all, the Garrett Nussmeier-Joe Burrow comparison is still valid. The now Bengals star when in LSU threw for 493 yards against Oklahoma, which is the second-highest in the Tigers squad. Well, Nussmeier racked up a career-high 409 passing yards over South Alabama. Let’s hope his senior year in 2025 makes his Joe Burrow dreams come true.
