The regular college football season is officially in the rearview mirror. It’s time to shift gears and get ready for the bowl games. And this Tuesday, we’ve got a matchup you won’t want to miss: Memphis vs. West Virginia in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl. Memphis (10-2) has had a remarkable season, marking their second 10-win season in a row. All credit goes to coach Ryan Silverfield’s athletic prudence. The third-best in the American Athletic Conference owes the rest of his success to quarterback Seth Henigan (3,208 passing yards, 23 touchdowns) and running back Mario Anderson Jr. (1,292 rushing yards, 17 TDs). Of course, it’s the entire team who delivered their best on the field. And on paper, this year’s Frisco Bowl looks like a one-sided game.

The Memphis Tigers head as a favorite to defeat the West Virginia Mountaineers, according to BetMGM. They will have reason to break a sweat for it. For the Memphis senior class, it would be their final shot in the program. Seth Henigan will suit up in the Tigers jersey for the very last game from a venue close to his hometown of Denton. Other seniors like Roc Taylor, Jonah Gambill, Greg Rubin, and key contributors will also wrap their tenure up.

The Tigers want to make sure they give the seniors a sweetest farewell tribute. And what tastes better than a win? They will look to bag their fourth straight bowl win after last year’s Iowa State beatdown. But wait, who all will be there on the commentary list to narrate every facet? While you search for the answers, the top-tier ESPN crew gears up for another high-stakes endeavor under their belt. Mike Monaco, Kirk Morrison, and Dawn Davenport will call the show with a boosted grit.

Coming back to the Frisco Bowl updates, West Virginia might have a tough time keeping up as they are still adjusting to their head coach, Neal Brown,’s absence. Although offensive coordinator Chad Scott will take charge as the interim coach in the bowl game for West Virginia after Brown’s embarrassing 37-35 record over six seasons. The Mountaineers (6-6) ended up with an eighth overall rank in the Big 12. Brown was hopeful, but before any miracle happened, he lost his job.

”Our record at the end wasn’t what we’d hoped for. I thought that over the course of the year, there were times when people were counting us out and our guys bounced back and did some good things,” Brown said after a 52-15 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday.

After a home loss to Iowa State, fans lost their cool and blasted Brown on social media. When the former coach was asked about his take on fans’ frustration, he said, ”I get that they want to win, but what I would say is, did they have a good time? You know what I mean? Like, did they enjoy it? It was a pretty good atmosphere.”

West Virginia hasn’t even grabbed a league title since 2011. Their Big 12 period remains largely titleless. The coach landed his first-ever head coaching job a year back, leading Troy to a 35-16 record over four seasons, including the 2017 Sun Belt championship. But he came up short. He mounted a humiliating record of having the most pathetic six-year stretch at West Virginia since Gene Corum went 29-30 from 1960 to 65. It will be a treat to see how West Virginia will do as an underdog without their head coach cheering from the sidelines.
