Are Ryan Williams and Jeremiah Smith the new kings of college football, dethroning Travis Hunter?

Who would have thought that one day a 17-year-old would enter college football and become everyone’s favorite? Although Ryan Williams was an already established star before his debut 2024 season. But after the games he played in, Phew! He’s just making waves, man. A few days ago, he caught the attention of former NFL star Ocho, who asked him to send “a DM” and he also needs a “jersey signed.” That’s Ryan Williams for you all. If there is someone who matches the same energy level as Willams, it’s Jeremiah Smith. Travis Hunter, who was ruling the college football before these young guys entered his territory, do you think he needs to worry about it?

Memory Hunt from the Ross Tucker podcast talked about these two true freshmen. “Man, if we weren’t getting great play from Rya Williams and Jeremiah Smith, Travis Hunter could easily be in play for both the Jim Thorpe and Valenikoff.” Whoof! Hunt indirectly just hunted down Travis Hunter’s monopoly to grab these prestigious awards.

Moving forward, the analyst went a step further and said, “How great these two have been playing to where they are clearly the best two receivers in the country.” Yeah, that’s something every college football fan can relate to. Guess he forgot to say, ‘youngest receivers’ as well. Ryan Williams will turn 18 this November and Jeremiah Williams has not even turned 19. That’s the most attractive thing about both of them.

Memory Hunt then compared them with Travis Hunter, saying, “I have never seen two receivers that a true freshman come in and dominate like he was.” Look at some remarkable moments from both of their performances so far in the season. One game-winning touchdown catch and one clutch touchdown grab by these guys exceeded everyone’s expectations. Although Smith was the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 class and Williams was No. 8, no one ever thought they would shake Travis Hunter’s throne. With that, let’s look at both of them’s latest season hits.

In Alabama’s victory over Georgia, Ryan Williams pulled out a game-winning score, which turned the tables for Alabama in a 41-34 Saturday night victory. Jalen Milroe somehow trusted Williams for this one, and Ryan Williams grabbed a 75-yard catch-and-run touchdown.

Moving forward, Jeremiah Smith is equally capable as Williams. Smith has completed 364 yards on 19 catches. While praising him, Klatt said in an after-game appearance, “The guy is absolutely insane, he is physically the most gifted person on the football field, every time he’s on the field. He’s fast. He’s got incredible body control. He’s a great worker. He’s got a phenomenal attitude, and his hands are unreal.” That’s extraordinary to say about a true freshman. Besides that, with Ryan Williams and Jeremiah Smith’s increasing popularity, do you think Travis Hunter is a long-lost story?
