7-5. Not a bad record for a first-time HC. But it’s not just the field record that Sherrone Moore is proud of. Of course, their 13-10 victory over their arch rival Ohio State boosted his hype to great heights. But The Game victory isn’t the only real deal success for Michigan under their new HC. And if you’re wondering, Moore had a little bit of professional help.

If anyone understands the pressure of being a head coach, it’s Sherrone Moore who had to almost rebuild his team from scratch. But he revealed how he pulled through to where he is as he joined Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman in a new YouTube video on On3 on December 5. Moore said, “I had a lot of conversations with a lot of people I respect. Obviously coach Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, Jack Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, Bob Stoops.”

There you go. NFL prodigies! Jim Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, and Mike Tomlin are all current HCs of NFL teams and UFL HC Bob Stoops’ in the mix too! He continued, “A lot of guys that have done it in this chair, or at a higher level and the common thing is that it never stops but it can slow down a little bit.” Michigan fumbled this season with a pair of two consecutive losses and their early loss to Texas.

A lot of calls went out for Sherrone Moore’s head but little did we all know something was cooking behind the scenes! As he added, “You just have to do it your way and there’s no right way. The right way is the way that you do it so make sure that you do it your way.” And maybe, putting together one of the best recruiting classes in the nation despite an incompetent record is the way that Moore does it!

Sherrone Moore’s recruitment success in Michigan

Who would have thought that a struggling program would win the commitment of the top player in the nation!? But Michigan did when they flipped No. 1 overall Bryce Underwood from LSU. And that’s a huge thanks to Sherrone Moore and his creative staff who prepared a multi-million dollar offer for it to happen. And hey, there’s a chance that this similar scenario could play out once more.

As of now, Underwood remains Michigan’s highest-rated commit followed by 5-star OT Andrew Babalola. The Wolverines 2025 recruiting class ranks 6th in the nation with 23 commits. Following this wild achievement, The Sporting News wrote, “Michigan went 7-5 in 2024, but you would not know it right now. Moore went from hot seat to hot shot.” Looks like Sherrone Moore is walking into his second season in Ann Arbor as a hero. Hopefully, he can hold on to that title by the end of next season.
