Michigan fans have seen it all with Sherrone Moore’s program. After the high of winning the 2023 National Championship, the team’s fortunes took a dive. With Harbaugh gone, Moore’s initial season concludes without a Wolverines playoff appearance. Just as they hit rock bottom, a twist of fate pulls them back in, like in Godfather III. But Moore isn’t out of tricks as he lands Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit, and suddenly, things are looking up for Michigan again.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Bryce Underwood single-handedly revive Michigan's glory days, or is it too much pressure on him?

Have an interesting take?

Honestly, next to their rivalry victory over Ohio State, recruiting Bryce Underwood ranks as one of Michigan’s most significant achievements. Plus, it’s one of the smartest recruiting moves, as this guy could lift up their dead game, and even insider Steve Wilfong believes the same as he talks about his abilities on On3, saying, “You have Bryce Underwood, the number one overall player in the country, the top quarterback prospect in the land, someone that’s going to come in right away and compete for QB1 duties right out the gate, 6’4, 215 lbs., two-time state champion at a high school that had never won a state championship before he stepped on the field.” That’s a fact.

Now, Steve is not wrong when he says that Bryce Underwood is going to right away compete for QB1 duties, as his record speaks for his exceptional gameplay. This guy led Belleville to a 13-1 record and a third straight appearance in the Michigan Division 1 championship in 2023. With a remarkable record of completing 179 out of 276 passes for 3,329 yards with 44 touchdowns. No wonder Underwood clearly fits the bill as a top quarterback.

Moreover, talking about his abilities, which makes him a perfect single caller for Michigan Steve says, “He played in three state championship games, had four deep runs in the state playoffs. He’s a winner; he can make every throw; he can extend plays; he’s going to give Michigan their most talented signal caller under center in quite some time.”  That’s pretty evident that Bryce Underwood is clearly the full package, with all the tools you’d want in a potential signal-caller. The dude’s got the size, arm strength, and athleticism to make any defensive coordinator sweat bullets.

But what really sets him apart is his poise on the field. He’s mastered field command by the middle of his senior year—a skill that usually takes years to develop. We’re talking about over 48 career starts and more than 165 touchdowns—numbers that stand tall even before you factor in his youth. Plus, the surprising thing is Bryce Underwood won’t hit 20 until his third year of college. Crazy, right? But it looks like Michigan’s alleged single caller might face some QB rivalry in the future.

It’s evident that Michigan had a moment of glory when they snatched Bryce Underwood from Brian Kelly’s hands. That win sure is a big boost to their confidence. But Sherrone Moore isn’t just stopping there, he’s already chasing after Underwood’s backup. Now, Michigan’s locking eyes on another young prodigy, and it looks like they’re not alone in the race. As reports show that this 5-star QB target has already landed an offer from UNC. So here’s the big question: Can Michigan pull this off and land him for the class of 2026?

Well, a recent Michigan Sports Talk video confirmed that “Michigan offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey has visited the five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons in the 2026 class from the state of California.” Folsom high school recruiter Scott Robison posted on X, saying, “Thank you to @ChipLindsey11 From @UMichFootball for stopping by the 5 Time state champs Folsom Bulldogs today,” Now this move cranks up the rivalry for Bryce Underwood, but for Michigan, it’s smart to build up their 2026 dynasty.

However, looks like it’s not going to be a walk in the park for Sherrone Moore as Ryder Lyons is already making moves. Just last Friday, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound QB dropped his offer from UNC and added one from Arizona. Since the January contact period started, Folsom’s had visits from coaches, including Michigan, Ole Miss, and Washington.

No surprise here: Lyons is one of the hottest uncommitted 5-star QBs in California, and Michigan’s making sure they’re in the race. Now that Bryce Underwood is already creating excitement around the team, let’s see if this new recruit adds to the buzz or just begins another quarterback battle in the coming season.
