Cam Ward has made his call — no throwing at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Instead, the ex-Miami quarterback will put his arm on display at his pro day. Now, it’s a move we’ve seen before from top QB prospects, but here’s the kicker — his draft stock keeps climbing. The Tennessee Titans, holding the No. 1 pick, are searching for their franchise QB, making Ward a prime target. But they’re not the only ones watching. Well, the Browns, Giants, and Raiders are all lurking, ready to make a move. The hype is building — and now, Fox drops a controversial Cam Ward announcement.

While Cam Ward’s Draft stock is soaring, Fox’s X post throws in a twist, hinting that Ward’s NFL future is still up in the air until the 2025 Draft in late April. According to Rob Rang’s 2025 NFL Draft rankings, Ward lands at No. 16. But here’s where it gets interesting — he’s still expected to be a top-5 pick, with a real shot at going first or second overall. And the controversy? Fox put it out there for debate, asking: “Do you agree with Rob Rang’s Draft Prospect Rankings? 🤔”

We all know at 22 years old, Cam Ward has taken quite the journey — from FCS Incarnate Word to Washington State before making his mark at Miami in a sensational senior season. He put up video game numbers in his lone year with the Hurricanes — 4,313 passing yards, and 39 TDs. But he wasn’t just a threat through the air — he also ran for 204 yards and four scores, proving he could do it all. On top of that, his dominance didn’t go unnoticed; Ward took home the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s best QB, won ACC Player of the Year, and even finished 4th in the Heisman Trophy race.

As of now, with all the buzz surrounding Cam Ward, the hype train just hit another gear. And Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated didn’t hold back, saying, “It seems pretty clear to me that Ward is the top quarterback in the draft class. It’s Ward and then everyone else.” Although it’s a bold claim, you can’t ignore the fact that the Giants (No. 3), Browns (No. 2), and Titans (No. 1) are all looking for a franchise quarterback, and Ward? He may be that man.

But Breer said it best, mentioning, “With Ward, teams can see the potential for something spectacular. They may have to squint hard, get through a lot of tape, and use their imagination a bit, but the talent is in a place where, with NFL-level development, he could make jumps like the one he made going from Washington State to Miami.” In all honesty, Ward’s ascent from a Day 3 afterthought to a serious candidate for the first overall choice is genuine.

However, Ward is leaving his options open, but one thing is certain: the Las Vegas Raiders pique his interest. The Miami QB, who might be selected first overall, expressed his excitement about playing for Chip Kelly and Pete Carroll during his remarks at the NFL Combine. Ward said, “It would mean a lot, especially with the coaching staff they have. Chip Kelly, the things that he can do with the quarterback—moving him outside the pocket, the concepts he’s done in the intermediate game. It’ll fit my play style. And Pete Carroll, he’s a legendary coach, so if I’m lucky to go there, I know it’ll work out.

Even though the Raiders are a legitimate contender, Ward’s draft prospects may be affected by a recent move from one of his main suitors. Given that the Giants have made their intentions with Matthew Stafford quite apparent, Ward’s route to the Big Apple may suddenly be barred.

Cam Ward’s frontrunner’s objective

Matthew Stafford was the target of the New York Giants. And they were prepared to go to any lengths to get the quarterback who won the Super Bowl to East Rutherford. “I heard the Giants hit the number for Stafford. And they not only hit the number for Stafford – and again, I heard this from multiple people – I heard they hit the number for Stafford and the trade comp, too. They were in,” said NFL insider Rich Eisen.

Thus, NFL insider Rich Eisen revealed the truth while general manager Joe Schoen remained silent. Stafford wasn’t convinced, even though the Giants made a strong bid for the seasoned quarterback. He turned down New York and decided to remain in Los Angeles, which put the Giants’ quarterback hunt at a standstill. And Eisen encapsulated it brilliantly when he said, “I heard the Giants’ and Raiders’ interest in Matthew Stafford was quite real, and it was hairy at certain junctures last week.

The Raiders are currently the target of both Matthew Stafford and Cam Ward. Don’t discount the Giants just yet. Stafford still has a chance to go to New York. The candid statement from NFL insider Rich Eisen was, “I think, at the end of the day, the Staffords liked looking at the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.” The Giants therefore had everything in order, including the trade package and the numbers. Stafford, however, remained. What did Eisen not say, then? The actual deal-breaker might have been the unpredictability of New York.
