Well, every other Monday, like clockwork, Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock misery storms back into the headlines just like breaking news. It all started the moment he decided to turn pro. The script flipped as once a top-pick lock is now dangling outside the top 10. Why? Because his confidence gets tags like “arrogance” and “brash.” And don’t even start on the never-ending tug-of-war with Cam Ward for the higher draft pick. But FOX Sports? Took a healthy competition to a whole new level of drama, stirring the pot so hard that it might just cost Shedeur his NFL future.
Look, we all are familiar with the ongoing debate about the “generational talent” between Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward—their competitive fire never seems to die down. Recently, FOX Sports added fuel to the fire by categorizing both Shedeur and Cam based on their participation in throwing at the NFL Combine. While they opted to skip throwing at the Combine and focused on pressers and preparing for their Pro Days, FOX Sports cleverly listed them in “throwing” and “not throwing” categories, sparking controversy. This move by FOX Sports initiated a messy situation.
And DJ Blessone of the IsmokeHiphop Live YT channel brings out how they did it in parts. As DJ says, “But I want you guys to look here, as I have nothing but proof of how FOX Sports deliberately tried to sabotage Shedeur Sanders in the worst way. You can look here on this chart alone, how they’re showing you people who are under combine, who are throwing and not throwing. But when was this the focus? When did this become the main topic about quarterbacks who are not throwing?” Now this came as a jab towards Shedeur Sanders, as he was already facing heat for not throwing at the Shrine Bowl despite being listed.

Now, here comes the important stance that DJ Blessone is trying to bring out as he says, “But that never was necessary. Now, pay attention to this part right here, as far as they’re literally going to tweet this on X to make it a conversation and stir up the controversy that led to this week—actually, last week—the hardships that Shedeur had to face.” That’s true to some extent, as Shedeur Sanders, not throwing in the combine, became big news, stirring unnecessary drama.
But let’s not forget their analyst and former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson supported his combine decision. Highlighting the fact that he is not the only one doing it, “Shedeur won’t be the first notable quarterback to not participate. Joe Burrow didn’t do it. Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye—they are all just notable guys who decided not to throw at the combine,” Johnson said on SPEAK. That shows FOX Sports might not be totally behind sabotaging Shedeur Sanders’ pro future.
And out of everything, his draft stocks saw a major hit. For instance, take Atlon Sports Luke Easterling’s projection, where he gave the No. 1 overall pick to Cam Ward in the Titans and then kept Shedeur Sanders at No. 21 overall going to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The listing was still fine, but when Fox Sports put up a tweet on X saying, “Cam Ward will join Shedeur Sanders as the only QBs to not throw at the 2025 combine,” with eye emojis, adding another level of spice to it. Even Blessone says the same thing: “For Fox as a whole to even deliberately do this and make it an extra situation with the eye emojis is disturbing.” Well, Shedeur Sanders has a lot going on, but his competition with Cam Ward has just become more intense.

Shedeur Sanders faces major draft pick competition against Cam Ward
It’s evident that Shedeur Sanders came into the draft season as one of the most talked-about prospects, but his momentum has hit a snag. Despite the high demand for quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, the standout QB from Colorado is starting to slide down draft boards. Following a stellar final season at Boulder, Shedeur was generating top-5 buzz despite the constant chatter about his father’s influence. However, his decision to skip the throwing session at the Combine appears to have backfired.
The rise in Cam Ward’s stock serves as a cautionary tale for Shedeur’s unexpected decline. Now, Sanders is not only facing challenges from NFL teams but also battling public perception. The scrutiny of Sanders’ demeanor at the NFL Combine has been intense, with critics labeling him cocky and questioning his attitude. An anonymous QB coach even criticized the idea of drafting someone like Shedeur, citing his financial security, NFL background, and perceived arrogance. The truth is, Shedeur is no longer considered a top pick, and unless he can change the narrative quickly, his draft day may not unfold as he expects.

”Shedeur’s something second-round, late first, feels holding it at the third pick overall. I went backfield, and Greeny, my mock 1.0, a major mock, not a mini mock; the whole mock right. January 22nd was exactly like Fields is in terms of the top five picks right now,” Mel Kiper said during the March 13th ESPN show, dropping concerning news for the Colorado quarterback.
The Tennessee Titans have a meeting scheduled with Shedeur Sanders on Monday for an NFL draft visit following a recent sit-down with Cam Ward. Interestingly, they have decided that Shedeur is no longer under consideration. After the combine, things have changed, and now Ward is the preferred choice. It seems that the debate over QB1 between Sanders and Ward has shifted in Ward’s favor.
