If Paul Finebaum is out there asking you to do some ‘soul searching,’ then you are really in trouble. See, Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin has been in a pickle for the last few days. Ever since Lane Kiffin decided to bash the playoffs because of how ‘boring” the Penn State and SMU game was, the entire internet has been clowning on him. See, from one angle, Kiffin wasn’t exactly wrong. Pitting a 75 SOS team against Penn State was a mistake. We all knew that Nittany Lions would blow Mustangs out of the water, and that is exactly what happened. Regardless, that entire fiasco is still raging wild on X and all it takes is a small “CFP” search to find it.

However, for our favorite Ole Miss HC, it looks like he is going to move forward to better things. Back on his Instagram story, Kiffin shared a very funny meme about sobriety with a laughing emoji as the caption. The post reads: ”I saved a bunch of money by switching to sobriety”. Coming from Kiffin, this is something everyone should follow. See, Lane has had his battles with alcoholism.

With this year ending, he is almost 4 years sober now. “There’s a freedom in not feeling like you need a drink to celebrate a big win or get over a tough loss,” was what Kiffin had pointed out back on December 10th after sharing a video of actor Bradley Cooper from the Sober Renewal podcast.

Isn’t it also kind of inspiring that Kiffin’s years of battle and being sober and Ole Miss’s rise in SEC football go hand in hand? Ever since Kiffin took the crown, Rebels football has reached new heights.

While yes, it is true that many fans had expected bigger things this season, those 3 massive losses pushed the Rebels off of the playoff talks, but it is alright. Kiffin still has a 9-win season under his belt and he managed to win against Georgia?

Say whatever you want, but boy, oh boy, did he bring some joy to Oxford when he held a team like the Bulldogs to just 10 points during their showdown. Jaxson Dart on the offense, as well as the entire Ole Miss defense, was massive. Moving on, though, what is next for one of our favorite SEC head coach?

Lane Kiffin to the NFL?

What’s your perspective on:

Should Lane Kiffin take his talents to the NFL, or stay loyal to Ole Miss?

Have an interesting take?

Now there has been a big question about this. While Kiffin did take Ole Miss to 5 massive seasons, none of them were playoff-worthy. Every time, they somehow managed to come short of the 4 team cut, and despite this year being a 12-team bracket, they still got left out.

So what does Kiffin do next? Back in 2023, the HC did get a contract extension that will last till 2029, but it feels like he could end up switching sides and leaving for the NFL. Now, mind you, all of this is speculation, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Back on December 4th, Kiffin shared an interesting update on his Instagram story. “Wasted 4 years of my life doing this. It was exhausting. Break Free,” the Ole Miss HC wrote. Now, he was at Ole Miss for 4 years, so could it mean that he was thinking of leaving?

Kiffin already has NFL experience. He was with the Raiders for 2 seasons, so the NFL won’t be something “new” to him. However, we are yet to see anything concrete on this and we do think that Rebels fans wouldn’t want Kiffin to leave.
