Bill Belichick. Well, that man never runs out of controversy, you see? From the infamous Spygate hoopla to making a comeback in college football after coaching in the NFL for over two decades. Then came his personal life when he got enough hate for dating someone who was 48 years younger than him. However, Belichick might have hoped to flip his hate scene stepping into the shoes of the new North Carolina HC. But looks like more woes await him.

That’s because of his whimsical decisions. Belichick reportedly has dished out a scholarship offer to former 38-year-old Super Bowl champ’s son. And the fans surely have an issue with it.

Bill Belichick takes advantage of the bloodline advantage in the recruiting race

Now, Belichick’s move is surely going to make a part of football fans feel old. After all, they now get to see the kid of an athlete they once watched play becoming an athlete of his own right. Yes, that’s what is trending right now. Thanks to HC Belichick who has offered the son of Super Bowl champ LeGarrette Blount Sr.’s, his second Division 1 scholarship. Well, even though LaGarrette Blount Jr. is still young, he’s already drawing eyes. So, what made Belichick count on Jr.?

His father was a bruising running back who went on to have a long NFL career. The high school freshman is coming off as a hot target and will be in the class of 2028. Standing tall at 5’11” is slender and fast. Jr.’s Insta bio read that he is a free safety, cornerback, wide receiver, and “athlete”. The young chap plays at Hamilton High School in Chandler. Coming off his freshman season, the Class of 2028 prospect dropped the big news on February 12. He tweeted, “Blessed to receive my 2nd D1 offer from North Carolina!! #AGTG @LG_Blount.”

Looks like the player’s biggest USP is his father. The running back suited up for Belichick in New England for two and a half seasons. Do you remember Sr.’s memorable season with the Patriots under Belichick? He racked up 1,161 rushing yards and a league-leading 18 rushing touchdowns. Not just this, Sr.’s father has three Super Bowls under his belt. Two with New England in his first and second seasons. The third came with the Philadelphia Eagles defeating his former team. However, even sharing such a rich legacy, fans do not seem to be happy with Belichick’s decision with Jr.

Fans upset with Bill Belichick’s latest move

Belichick already has too many things on his plate. That’s why it looks like a risky move. Jr.’s father led the league in rushing touchdowns in New England in 2016. So, it’s obvious that the expectations are high for the young chap to live up to. Already, college football fans believe that Jr. got a clean chit not because of his own talents but his Super Bowl winner father. As one of them placed his opinion, “I think that’s nepotism, but I could be wrong..”

Someone even mistook Jr. to be his father. The fan might have thought that Belichick is bringing back his old Super Bowl champ in North Carolina. So he commented with a tone of disbelief, “How does that make sense lol? Blount is wayyyy older.” Another fan too made fun of Sr.’s age telling how his family tree might have expanded by now, “Blount is 38. In running back years, he should have grandchildren by now.”

Then came a Pittsburgh Steelers fan who still holds a strong dislike for Sr. in his heart. After all, 10 years back, the running back walked off the field during a game. The Steelers cut him the next day. So, he prays that his son does the same to Belichick, “LeGarrette Blount Sr will never be forgiven by Steelers fans: I hope Jr drops out”

Well, fans’ memories should not be taken easy. Forget Super Bowls. To this day, a fan remembers LeGarrette Blount Sr. from his college days. The Oregon Ducks RB punched Boise State Broncos player, Byron Hout in 2009. Before that, he had also accidentally punched an Oregon coach in 2008. Reading about Bill Belichick’s offer for LeGarrette Blount Jr. a fan wrote, “Isn’t Blount the guy who sucker punched someone in college?” Bill Belichick better brace himself—this scholarship offer is about to stir up a storm!
