Week 11! College football is going to bring some highly anticipated games today. One of them is Florida vs. Texas. Who are you rooting for? Before that, is Billy Napier’s key player, DJ Lagway, healthy and will he be on the field to lead the offense? According to the SEC availability report, he is listed as a game-time decision, and his status remains uncertain.
Week by week, the season is getting intense, and one thing head coaches would like their players to stay away from is the injury. Last week, Florida Gators played against one of the strongest teams, Georgia Bulldogs, but who knew that the 34-20 defeat in the game would bring one more bad news for the program? Quarterback Lagway suffered a hamstring and had to leave the field. We found the Gators insiders talking about the same.
A few hours ago, the YouTube channel of Texas Sports shared a video where Davis Waters, an insider of the Gators, made it clear that winning is the only option for the Gators. “They want to go play hard, tough defense and grind out eight, nine-play drives to keep that Texas offense on the sideline. But yeah, that would be a worry for Florida with Texas getting off to a fast start.” Lagway is not the only quarterback Florida started with this season. He got the opportunity after Graham Mertz was sidelined for the season due to a torn ACL. Will Napier need the third starter today?

The insider further makes a most important point and discusses how Lagway’s absence will hamper Florida. “If Texas gets off to a fast start and if Lagway is not there and not 100%, or if [Aidan] Warner’s the guy, it’s tough to see a comeback in that scenario.” He also mentioned that he makes Florida’s offense stronger, and it would be interesting to see how Florida performs if Lagway does not turn up.
Right now, the Gators are standing at a 4-4 record, which is not enough to make a place in the playoffs. Who will take Lagway’s place if he is unable to play today? Gators will have to turn to the third-string QB Aidan Warner, who is a Yale transfer who also stood up last week after Lagway left the field.

Is DJ Lagway sticking to Florida for one more year?
Many experts, media outlets and insiders wanted quarterback Jalen Milroe to stay with Alabama for one more year. It looks like Billey Napier wanted the same for his quarterback, DJ Lagway. Will he hold his horses for one more year? Yes! He made it clear that he is not going anywhere and will stick to the Gators beyond this year.
The confirmation came in after Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin made his statement, “I am confident that Billy will meet the challenges and opportunities ahead. We will work alongside him to support any changes needed to elevate Gator football.”

As soon as Scott made it official, Lagway expressed his happiness and shared the news with his fans on his Instagram story with happy face emojis and crocodile emojis, which represent Gators. But for now, we know all the eyes of Gators fans will be looking for Lagway. His presence will make a huge difference.
