The much-awaited showdown is finally here. It’s Florida Gators vs. Texas A&M. Both teams started the game with high enthusiasm. However, the weather has some other plans for them before the game. Lighting was detected within eight miles of the Ben Hil Griffin stadium. There were possibilities of a game delay. Also, suppose severe weather or lightning is detected within a 15-mile proximity of the stadium. In that case, game officials will be alerted as per the Southeastern Conference Weather Policy, which can result in a possible game delay. Let’s see what the case is with Florida and Texas.

Today sports analyst Daren Stoltzfus WESH took to X to confirm the possibility of a game delay, saying, “Announcement in the stadium says lightning has been detected within 15 miles of The Swamp. If it gets within 8 miles, we’ll have a delay.” But now the lighting has already started around the stadium, and there is a delay in the showdown as the game is only completed in the first half.

Even the Florida Gators official Twitter account took to X to confirm the game delay because of the weather uncertainties, saying, “The game will resume at 5:17 PM. Let’s hope we made some adjustments.” Also, fans are permitted to leave the stadium in case they want to take some time to relax before the game. They can use their online tickets for re-entry into the stadium once the game resumes. There are even resting areas and shelters provided for the fans near the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Well, the game will resume soon, and the teams will pick up the game where they left it. Let’s discuss how the first quarter ended for both teams.

Florida Gators’ poor performance in the first half against Texas A&M

Texas A&M is currently leading the host Florida Gators 20-0. We are about to reach the end of the second quarter. Texas A&M just scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown. The lightning delay didn’t change Florida’s fortunes. Texas QB Marcel Reed has been everywhere. In their last sequence, Texas had 15 plays for 99 yards. Just imagine! Is Florida really the home team?

Billy Napier’s boys are yet to make their mark on the offensive side of things. Three chances led to three punts. Texas defense has had a field day, as the Gators are yet to even cross five plays on any of their drives. On the other hand, Texas’s offense and their effective run game are really making Florida’s defense work hard. After a field goal to start the game, backup quarterback Marcel Reed, who got a start today, threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Theo Melin Ohrstrom. The Gators’ fans would hope for some positives in the second half. Who do you think will win this game? Tell us in the comments!
