Sometimes you can’t help yourself but feel bad for HC Billy Napier. First, a lawsuit and then the team’s disappointing 41-17 loss to Miami. It looks like everything Napier cares about is falling apart. While we had hoped that things wouldn’t get worse for the HC, we got the news that the team’s WR Kahleil Jackson won’t be appearing for the entire season because of an ACL injury. Boy, oh boy, Napier woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

However, there is still some good to this disastrous start. Jackson took to his Instagram story on September 7th, to update the fans regarding his current situation. “Surgery went good. Preciate everybody that checked on me,” Jackson wrote in his story. Finally, some good progress. Looks like the ACL surgery went without a hitch and Jackson was going to recover slowly. Still, that does not mean that all the worries for Napier are over. The 2023 season was the breakout year for Jackson. The junior WR managed to lock in 21 catches and around 251 yards for the 11 games he appeared this. This time around, he marked to be in his “prime position”. That all fell apart when we saw the Gators’ depth chart and Jackson was nowhere to be found. He has a record of having a solid chemistry with his teammates and losing such a valuable player is a big blow to the entire roster.

If this wasn’t bad enough, Napier would also be losing out on multiple other players because of injuries. QB Graham Mertz is out because of a concussion. CB Devin Moore, DL Joey Slackman, and STAR Sharif Denson are also out because of multiple injuries. Watching a 3-time national champ team that had 3 Heisman winners crumbling apart is quite sad. While it was announced that star QB DJ Lagway would be starting for the next game against Samford, his journey with the Gators is going to be short-lived.

Billy Napier’s team continues its downhill trajectory as DJ Lagway hits the transfer portal

Yes, you read that right. Back on September 1st, we got the news that DJ had decided to hit the transfer portal. The freshman QB who was marked as the No.3 national prospect is going to leave the Gators behind for some other roster. Lagway had locked in more than 4500 yards and around 58 TDs.

That guy had a completion rate of around 72% and is probably one of the best players in the entire Gators’ roster. “He’s extremely special,” was something Gators legend Tim Tebow had mentioned regarding DJ. It all feels like karma finally catching up to Napier. We all know what he allegedly did to Jaden Rashada, so it ain’t a surprise that his team is paying the price right now.
