Can Sherrone Moore's recruitment magic save Michigan from its current football nightmare?

Listen, we don’t know what is happening with Michigan football. Going from 2023 national champs to barely scraping the bottom of the barrel for some wins, the Wolverines have come a long way. If Sherrone Moore had thought that his HC career would be fun, then he was dead wrong. The playoffs are off the table and they ain’t even gonna make it to the Bowl games. Letting Jim Harbaugh go was probably the biggest mistake the University has ever made, but somehow, despite the 4 losses, Sherrone Moore is still keeping the Michigan boat afloat through the sheer power of recruitment.

See, there has been a lot of talk surrounding 5-star QB Bryce Underwood and his flip. While Underwood is still committed to LSU, Michigan has dropped a massive $5 million deal on the table that could potentially make him rethink his decision. However, if Underwood does flip, Moore will not only get a 5-star QB for his 2025 roster, but he will also manage to grab a 4-star WR. Back on On3 Recruits, Michigan insider EJ Holland reveals some crazy details regarding this. “I don’t think Meadows would’ve visited Michigan yesterday if there wasn’t some serious interest in Bryce Underwood,” Holland mentioned. WR Derek Meadows is another LSU commit who could also potentially flip to the Wolverines if Underwood confirms his decision.

This would be massive for Michigan recruitment. Yes, 2024 was garbage, and Moore could’ve done a lot, but the overall abysmal roster and the lack of QB depth and run game cost them the playoff chances. These guys have fallen from grace, and it is sad. He-k even winning the 2023 Cup has a lot of people in doubt because of the entire cheating allegations and the NCAA investigation.

However, we pointed out that Sherrone Moore still has some opportunities left if he wants to rub off this stain from the Wolverines’ record. The entire focus has to go on the 2025 roster. The recruitment season is almost over, and this is it.

Moore and his staff have already managed to snag 3 major players; OT Andrew Babalola, Safety Ivan Taylor, and TE Andrew Olesh. Underwood and Meadows will become the cherry on top of the cake for Michigan. We already know that the recruitment staff is capable enough of flipping people away from major camps. We predicted one a few days back.

Shamari Earls flips

See, there is no way Kirby Smart would let Michigan take away his 4-star CB. At least, that is what every Dawgs fan had thought, but SIKE, here we are. Back on November 2nd, we covered Michigan insider Sam Webb and what he had to say regarding the Shamari Earls situation. “For Shamari Earls to visit, given the fever with which Georgia tried to get him not to visit, it was very significant,” Webb mentioned.

Have an interesting take?

Who could have thought that this “speculation” about Earls’ flipping would come true? A few hours later, we found out that Shamari Earls had indeed flipped over to the Wolverines, and this is great for the 2025 roster. If Moore cannot keep the legacy alive in 2024, then at least he can try to make a comeback in 2025. Pretty sure fans cannot wait to see what unfolds next season.
