The 2026 recruiting class is packed with talent. Mount Miguel sophomore athlete Brandon Arrington, an elite football player and an outstanding track runner, is leading the pack. Nicknamed the “Dash,” the La Mesa, California native had an impressive 2023, excelling both as a receiver and cornerback, which only raises his stock. He has already paid visits to Alabama, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, USC Nebraska as he weighs his options before committing. There might still be time for Arrington to make a final decision, but he is already impressed with one program and it could be a hint at his next move.
Arrington has received over a dozen Division I offers with some standout programs gunning for his commitment in 2026. His abilities as a track runner have also enhanced his reputation and something he believes will be beneficial to his chances in any team. He has won state titles in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.33, and the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.55. “I feel like my track times benefit me for getting these big offers because colleges love speed,” he said. But it’s his ability on both sides of the ball that makes him a standout.
Last season, he racked up 310 receiving yards and four offensive TDs. On defense, he made 25 tackles and also scored a punt return TD on special teams. For the last two seasons, he has played both as a wide receiver and cornerback, and currently, he ranks as the No. 18 player in the nation, the No. 2 athlete, and the No. 3 player in California. So what is on the mind of the 5-star recruit?

The 6’2, 180-pounder appeared for an interview with On3’s Josh Newberg on October 24 and talked about his big decision and also addressed on what will be his playing position in college. Newberg asked him what position the teams projected him at when they discussed his recruitment. Arrington answered, “Usually, both. Both staffs, they project me as a DB and receiver both. But its gonna be my decision at the end of the road.” After talking about what visits he has taken, he mentioned which atmosphere stood out for him
Arrington told On3, “I’ll say Texas A&M. Like their fan base is like insane. It was just insane just being there and watching everything. It was crazy.” Notably, Texas A&M was the first SEC school to make an offer to Brandon Arrington in January after a conversation with the Aggies co-DC Jordan Peterson.
Along with other offensive prospects, Brandon Arrington visited Texas A&M during their season opener against Notre Dame. The result may not have gotten in their favor as they were handed their first and only defeat of the season so far. But the impression has been made.
In another interview with On3 Chad Simmons in August, Arrington said, “I like everything about Texas A&M. The staff and everybody is on me and they told me I’m their No. 1 target right now and they show it. I will be at Texas A&M a lot this year.” During his most recent discussion, Arrington also confirmed that he has a good relationship with the coaching staff of several schools including Texas A&M, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and more.

As for the timeline of when we can expect him to make that announcement, Arrington said, “I will say probably the end of my junior year.” This suggests that we could get an official confirmation about his move in the next 2-3 months.
While his comments about Texas A&M will excite their fanbase, many teams are chasing him and Arrington himself had high praise for Alabama even before his visit to Tuscaloosa.

Brandon Arrington labeled Alabama as the best place in the league
Arrington paid a visit to Alabama at the end of July but he was impressed by the program even before that. In early July, talking to On3, Arrington lauded Alabama for producing elite players at several positions over the years. He said, “That basically tells you that’s the school you want to go if you play receiver. Or even DB. They also had Pat Surtain and all these great athletes. Bama is the place to be if you want to go to the league.”
He also declared his interest in the program adding, “Bama is definitely one of my top schools right now. 100 percent. I’m really interested in that school.” So it remains to be seen where he will end up given the options he has available.

He’ll be on the road to visit Texas A&M’s upcoming SEC clash with No. 8 LSU on October 27. The highly sought prospect also voiced his desire to visit other campuses he hasn’t visited yet which are Ohio State, Oregon, and Tennessee. But as of now, we can only let the suspense boil and wait for him to drop his decision at the end of his junior year.
